I properly read through the thread and even though i had known already earlier a lot of the tales it was really special to learn some of these and i’m so glad people share them, especially the origin stories of @citriina and @stagecoach were incredibly wholesome to read. Seeing the Komiya porygon post card art in tcg form in @xileets posts also had my heart skip a beat

My Raichu collection origin story is attributed to 2 things. First, I absolutely loved the Lt. Surge episode in Season 1 of the Animie. I loved how Raichu looked and the episode itself is among the best from Season 1.
Second, my first playthrough of Pokemon Red in Elementary school. The puzzle from Surge’s gym had me STUMPED, it forced me to spend one or two mall trips to hunt down a strategy guide just so I could read the page about his gym. Him saying “Pokemon saved me during the war” was so badass to young me too lol.

I don’t have a great origin story for my species collection. When I started thinking about trying to crochet small pokemon, the first pokemon that came to mind was the Hoppip line. I just generally like round, cute-looking pokemon anyway, and they pretty much fit the bill. Also, not being super popular (and, therefore, expensive to collect) probably also contributed!
