Share you Crazy /Interesting Package Experience

I feel for you having to deal with customs. That’s gotta be rough when this kinda thing happens. Is this a often problem shipping sealed product over seas?

they were just checking to see if it was shadowless XD

Bought a Japanese Base set Venusaur for my binder collection. It got sent in a top loader, inside a Ziploc bag, inside a bubble mailer. Unfortunately it wasn’t sleeved so it partially slipped out during shipping and got a few dings in it at the top on the back. After closer inspection and checking out the eBay pics, this card would have been grade worthy if it hadn’t slipped out and gotten those dings. Probably would have been a 9 or 10. Now it’s just a beautiful card in my binder.

When I got into photography I bought a $1,500 DSLR from eBay. It was sent in a large flat rate box…completely empty. The camera bounced around in there until it got to me. Miraculously still worked, the body cap had just fallen off… I’m glad it was a more upscale model with magnesium body and not a plastic rebel which I am 100% certain would have fallen to pieces.

Got mine a month ago for 870 including shipping

Maybe a bit off topic O:) but am just so happy for that deal, because I will never be able to purchase the 1st Edition version so was happy to get away with this purchase as cheap as I got

That is a INSANE price!!! Good for you but not the market lol

I’ve actually got an interesting one for this topic.

About 4 years ago, I sold 2k bulk to troll and toad. No rares or rev holos of any sort, just basic commons and uncommons. I shipped the package out, packaged safely, super-taped the whole thing to make sure it got there alright, and waited.

About 2 weeks later, T&T sent me an email regarding my package. They received it, however, they refused it at pickup due to it being damaged. It was said that it was being returned back to me.

Another week goes by and the package shows up at my house. This box is beat to absolute shit. I really wish I had a picture of it. The box was wrapped in some sort of bubble wrap, covered then by some plastic wrap. From the looks of the box itself, it appeared to have gotten soaked and then dried… Almost like it got left out in the rain. Some of the sides were torn and a couple punctures were noticeable. After opening it, none of my protective paper was inside and the cards were no longer in neat stacks like I had shipped them originally. After being furious for a few hours and getting my insurance money from USPS (who were quite understanding since they saw the box,) I started to sort through the cards and put them back into stacks to resend.

Here’s where it got really interesting. While sorting through the stacks, I started to find some regular rares. I thought it was pretty odd. But maybe I missed a couple. Then I started finding some basic EX cards. Like Ok… There’s no way I sent those in. How are these even in here, if T&T never handled the package. There was even a full art or two, I believe like 7 EX cards total, and between 50-100 regular rares afterwards. Oh, and like 500 bulk was not there.

So to summarize, I sent off a well packaged box, it got refused by T&T, got sent back, damaged, missing some cards, and having some other cards inside which I never had owned or sent them… So strange. My best guess would be that it ripped open during transit, possibly with another box, and one of the workers just shoved cards back into boxes and taped them up again.

Quite funny to look back on, but that’s def my most interesting/bizzare package experience.

Out of curiosity, how much insurance did USPS pay out to you? The entirety of the package, or just partial? Always wondered how insurance work with federal insurance postal services :stuck_out_tongue:

I got the amount I insured it for, which was $200 (the amount T&T was going to give me.) So I actually did end up in the positive. $$ back plus extra cards that WERE NOT mine.

The postmaster was apologizing frequently, even though I told him it wasn’t at all his fault. He didn’t even ask to see the contents, he could just tell by the way the box looked that it wasn’t good. Though the cards seemed to be alright, just some slight edgewear more than usual, but again, not all were mine to begin with.

That’s odd, USPS does not let you keep the package when you file an insurance claim. You got extra lucky and I don’t doubt it because USPS is the worst when it comes to their own regulations.

I’m extremely surprised the sorting machines didn’t eat those letters up and spit them out as a mangled pile of paper and plastic.
