Every card, Iāve been searching for an uncommon from the set for close to two years now, checking new listings on Japanese websites daily, without having success in finding it so far.

Not anymore now, thank you! I should probably add XY8 to my ebay alerts (I had āXY8 unlimitedā in there, but this seller didnāt advertise the pack as unlimited). I thought internationally it was more well-known than in Japan that the distinction between first edition and unlimited exists and what the implications are, but I guess after seeing several packs and cards wrongly labeled as unlimited on Cardmarket I should have known better

Japan is finally catching on that unlimited is more desirable to Westerners. For a couple of years there they were really hard to find, but when you did find them, they were priced similar to 1st edition. Now they are easier to find but am seeing the 10x premium and unlimited typed in the actual listing.
I blame social media for driving the awareness.

I was shocked to find so many of the Voltorbs and Electrodes i needed from early sets that were very rare are now easily found on Buyee. e series 2-5 unlimited has seemed to come out of the woodwork in the last several years.
Same experience. No Umbreon for years, then like 5 different copies popped up in less than 1 year.
Also PSA pop report went from 0 to 7 I think in just the last year

Iām only specifically looking for XY8, because I need the Staraptor in it for my collection, but thanks for the heads up on the other sets anyway (might be useful info for some other species collectors)!

Unlimited Holon Research Tower seems to be about 5-6 times rarer than 1ed, at least based on PSA pop reports. While pop reports donāt tell the whole story, Iād say the fact that each notable card in the set has a much lower pop in unlimited form supports it being short-printed.
