Seller relisted item

So I was watching a team rocket psa 10 rainbow energy and it already had a few bids on it. Next minute it’s relisted for $296 and sold :slightly_frowning_face: is that not annoying as hell!!

I hate when sellers do that. IMO they shouldn’t be allowed to end an auction that already has a bid on it. I lost out on so many good cards and collections to people doing that and it’s very annoying indeed.

The penalty for ending an auction soon is a 10% final value fee on the current bid.

@chok It’ll be very interesting to see how that works out,

Do you reckon it might discourage those brilliant 0.99 auctions, especially for higher end items, could be a huge risk for sellers!

Me neither. However, if it’s a low starting price it wouldn’t effect the seller much. Like someone puts a $0.99 bid on an item and then makes a deal with the seller for hundreds or thousands, they will get taxed $0.10? Big fucking deal. lol

Just annoying when your watching it and wanting to bid nearer the end time then bam it’s gone and already sold

one of the risks to waiting, if a seller isn’t getting any action on his item and then gets a decent buy it now offer you can’t blame him for taking it

Yes, sometimes it’s hard to fault the seller. I know if I had something listed that was getting no action and someone message me an over market price it would be hard to turn it down…though I still may.

Are you sure this is correct ? when was it in place from ??

I dont end listings early, but there has been times where there was a mistake in the listing and i:ve had to take it down after it has had bids on it…

Well, starting an auction is already a risk in itself but the best way to auction is indeed starting from 0.99 IMO.

Well, if it’s an item for hundreds or thousands in market price but the item got ended before any bids were made the either the seller got an offer REALLY early or the listing title isn’t the best. Either way, if you really want the item in auction, it doesn’t hurt asking the seller for a BIN. It happens way too often on eBay. The reason for an auction is to move a slow moving item to get some cash, if someone offers you market value 5 hours into a 10 day auction, would you not take it? Especially when there’s zero bids yet?

Yeah I’m pretty sure. At least in the UK eBay it is because I heard it all from other sellers from the UK too. Also if you currently have an auction with AT LEAST one bid on if you can click the END LISTING button and the penalty pop-up will appear asking you to confirm to end the auction. There must be at least one bid for the penalty to be in place.

Yup Ebay Aus has this as well, can’t seem to find anywhere specifically mentioning 10%, but I’ve always known it was 10%

"You can end your auction listing early, if:

There are no bids yet on your item

There are bids on your item, and you are willing to sell your item to the current highest bidder

There are bids on your item and you don’t want to sell it to the highest bidder, but there are 12 or more hours left in the listing. In this situation, you’ll need to cancel all active bids before you can end your listing. We charge a fee for ending a listing in this way"

I always talk to sellers, but in this case there was a bid on it. It was a fresh auction with 10 days left. I leave for 2 hours and the item is gone. It involved like 18 Shadowless and 1st Ed high grade holos, I didn’t even get the time to figure out my max offer/bid.

The seller did end up apologizing, they realised their mistake and they got a fair offer so it’s not like I missed out on some kind of steal, but it was all the cards I wanted in one lot plus it was local so no customs and shit. I was pretty pissed off.
