This is illegal. It is an intellectual property violation and is selling fake product. If you want to make an argument that it shouldn’t be illegal and people should be free to counterfeit items then by all means do that, but that’s going down quite the slippery slope.
Where’s the “intellectual property violation?”
Can’t tell if you are serious or trolling, but this situation is the literal definition of counterfeit.

Such a nice argument!

Can sell empty packs ![]()
Can sell opened packs with cards in them ![]()
Can’t, at a buyer’s request, glue the packs shut?

If someone has any knowledge of law and believes this is an “intellectual property violation,” could you please explain why you believe that?

Hi Reseal_king!
It’s not clear why what that guy is doing is wrong. He’s being 100% transparent.
Some have correctly pointed out, however, that different, later people may do wrong things.
Imagine thinking creating counterfeit product is ok in any sense lol.

So I guess you have no response to the question?
And for the record, I’m not “Reseal_King”

You (or hopefully just others) are accusing someone of a legal violation, and I’m “stupid” for asking what you mean?
Lmao. It’s obviously not illegal, but damn it’s fucking terrible for the hobby
@7l7l, What so many are saying here is what we used to say about pack weighers. Let’s face it. So many claim to love the hobby then sadly do, or overlook, the things that hurt it.
I think you could easily make an argument that the packs would become counterfeit once the after market seal is placed.

Sir, I think I agree it has potential to hurt the hobby (although not necessarily).
I’m simply asking about how it’s an “intellectual property violation,” as that person was saying.
I’m also not sure I see how it’s “counterfeit,” but it’s been hard to get an answer on the first question, so I’d rather not move to this second one yet.

In regards to counterfeiting, lets say someone prints $100 bills at home and sells them to a customer who knows they are fake and never intends to spend them. Would you say nothing illegal has gone on here?

You don’t own the intellectual property. If you were a massive store like target, re-sealing packs, you would be sued by the company (Pokemon), because of the size/scale. Even some of the Mystery Box/Raffles are illegal, but the people doing them aren’t worth the time to prosecute. That is where most of this type of cancer activity exists; sometimes Illegal, but the individuals are a waste of time to prosecute.

Say you buy your son some packs for Christmas. He opens them and they turn out to have been tampered with. You get angry and your son cries. You can’t see how that necessarily would affect them going forward and in turn, hurt the hobby?

That scenario seems to result in harm. But resealing packs does not lead only to that scenario. For instance, someone may wish to frame resealed packs. They would look cool on the wall, say.

I’m not sure whether you explained how putting glue on an opened pack and selling it is an intellectual property violation.
What principle or source or law are you relying on?

Buy an actual sealed pack open it then fill it yourself.
That way a resealed pack doesnt get out on the open market and you get a nice display?
