Love the flamethrower. It actually makes sense on a sun Pokémon.
Or, what about making Xatu the way it should have been,
First of all, only one Xatu in the league (the ace of Will).
70/75/65/95/75/95 (if I remember correctly) - > 70/65/70/125/100/95 + recover & glare.
Scope Lens Kraken with 33.3%/25% crit rate out the gate, 50%/33,3% after Focus Energy. Guaranteed to OHKO Blissey on the 50/50. Could baton pass the Focus Energy. May not be entirely reliable, especially on the Zapdos/Raikou switch in after you’ve eviscerated something with Crabhammer, but boy would it be fun to terrorize GSC OU with this deathmachine.

Octillery could have been so awesome. But then they just made it suck (like so many Gen 2). Love the changes.
Delibird
- HP: 45 → 90
- Attack: 55 → 115
- Defense: 45 → 65
- Sp. Atk: 65 → 95
- Sp. Def: 45 → 75
- Speed: 75 → 90
TOTAL: 330 → 530
Moveset:
- Ice Punch
- Hidden Power Ground/Body Slam/Wing Attack
- Agility
- Baton Pass
Extra:
- Change “Present” attack effect to something similar to “Metronome”. At the end, every gift is a mystery.
- If the previous point is not possible, add “Metronome” as one of Delibird’s moves he can learn
that is a massive glow up 530 BST actually makes Delibird usable without losing the gimmick.
Agility Baton Pass with that stat spread could be surprisingly scary.
Give it protein as an ability. Not only a buff that might send it, but also good flavor because of the octopus ability to change colors and shapes in nature.
you can’t just give a guy mean look and perish song like that, its absolutely diabolical. Though I have to admit I have seen owls, they looked at me all mean like, and then SCREEEEE’d a big scary song that made me think a demon would going to murder me. So I’ll let this one slide.
Aipom on the other hand? Good stuff. I would be horrified of this thing though too. This feels like both of these guys are here specifically because screw gen 2 snorlax in particular.
Damn straight, Noctowl is too powerful. I wanted to boost Defense more but it felt like (more) overkill. What’s hilarious is that it gets Whirlwind too, Spikes for everyone.
If I could add a third move it would be Confuse Ray.
Snorlax factors into literally every decision. It’s amazing how overpowered he is and at the same time completely essential for metagame equilibrium.
honestly though i love the gen 2 meta. it’s methodical and feels like a campaign as opposed to a battle. you’re just chipping away at each other in little skirmishes, but behind the scenes (almost) everyone has the same trump card, their secret general. but!!! he’s not always built the same. did they spec their general for exploding? is he gonna sleep half the time? will he reach negative speed levels hitherto unknown? what if you steal his food? maybe this is a baby-brain or nostalgia-ridden take but i don’t find any other gen on showdown nearly as enjoyable
How about;
Donphan; 90/120/120/60/60/50 → 80/120/110/50/60/130. This actually makes sense, as Donphan is very quick in the animé. Somehow they just forget about it being able to form a ball and storm everyone and just give it rapid spin.
New moves; Rock Slide and Ice Beam (because it is a prehistoric elephant). The Ice Beam combined with the speed can actually mean a lot when going up against Pokémon like Dragonite, Jumpluff (not common, but still).

Whirlwind/Sleep Powder/Hidden Power Flying
Encores GSC minimum of 2 kind of necessitates a phazing move. Sleep Powder provides great facility. Hidden Power Flying prevents Jumpluff from being sat on by itself and other grass types.
Jumpluff as a physical Pokemon and only 10 special attack? Interesting
Whenever Jumpluff is used in any offensive capacity (rarely, and never in this gen) it is usually physical because of the moves it gets like Swords Dance, Acrobatics and physical Grass moves.
The TV logic for why the special attack is so abysmal is that Jumpluff is based on the dead stage of a dandelion. I really had to destroy it to get enough juice in other areas.

this rocks i love this. bulky quick dandelion with 101 hp for the substitute
i would absolutely use it!!
horizontal ursaring lol
Yeah, this could actually work. Glare works against pretty much anything and from there you paraflinch. When a steel type comes in, Fireblast.
statted like that he’d outspeed rhydon and tie with marowak but machamp, heracross, and ttar would still probably dine out. nobodies perfect though!!
ah i didn’t factor in glare, that definitely helps
