I noticed the psa populations for gym heroes and gym challenge cards are lower for unlimited than 1st edition for most if not all of the holos. Does anyone know the reason for this? We’re less unlimited printed than 2st edition or is it some other reason?
Interesting thanks everyone for chiming in. The value seems like it’s still worth it looking at their prices. I mean clearly 1st edition gets way higher prices but for a more affordable way to collect gym heroes and challenge it’s still not like they are cheap. Some are still really expensive.
As the 1st edition become more and more expensive seems like the others would start to become more popular but maybe not.
I mean how many super minty cards are left out there I wonder to even grade. When I try to find mint wotc holos it’s impossible.
There are still good cards out there raw. The other thing about the gym series is that they’re not that sought after. There are only a few chase cards (rockets zapdos, Blaine Montreal, rockets mewtwo, etc) compared to other WOTC sets, and, as has been pointed out in this forum before, it’s stock art of the ppkemon on a generic background - what makes them different/a curiosity is the cards being a trainers pokemon.
Not knocking these sets -I love them, but most people are more actively seeking out the neo sets, or base compared to these.
Also, these sets were printed to death, so there are a lot of them out there, which does reduce the price.
Thanks for the info. Didn’t know they were so heavily printed or that they had such low popularity. For whatever reason I always really liked them as a kid probably because I didn’t have them lol.
For me I find the alternative artwork for classic Pokemon and the trainer on the card to be really really cool but it’s interesting to hear they aren’t as popular. I guess it makes sense.
