Today’s Question:
QotD: Is your favourite Pokemon based on typing or other factors?

Helpful Considerations: Make it opposite typing, still good? What about change its design to match a different typing? Think of how the eeveelutions have different personalities.

I’ve always thought empoleon steel water was an epic typing. Unfortunately the only Pokemon who has it is only mid imo so I never use it much.

Metagross & jirachi being able to do the steel/physical psychic type makes me happy

Though Zen headbutt needs more competition

My favorites are based on design. The typing is just an added flavor

Dragonite is my favourite because of its personality. I love how just adorable and goofy it can be. It is kind (with exceptions) by default and can be protective and ferocious when needed. I think the mail carrier Dragonite just reminds me of a regular person or a dad character in Pokemon, has a day job, is gentle and can put up with shenanigans, does its duties etc. Even with Gen 1 nostalgia and all, I think it is the personality which attracts me more to Dragonite.

Cheers!

I never appreciated Dragonite because it’s so peaceful looking compared to the more monster like other pseudos.

But it’s moveset alone is second to none at this point. And multi scale is a top notch ability to have too

Typing does play a part, yes. It depends.

Eevee is my favourite because when I was younger I lost a stuffed brown mouse that I really liked and latched onto an Eevee plush. I already loved it before that happened but that sealed it as my favourite.

Originally, I liked Voltorb ironically and because he was easy to doodle in my notebook in high school. I organically grew to love him over time. It’s almost exactly how I became a Chicago Bears fan while growing up in Wisconsin lmao

I started playing pokemon when I was 5-6. Blastoise was a turtle with cannons on it and the rest is history.

For me, my favorite Pokémon (Seviper) is just because I like its design. Doesn’t really matter too much which type it would be, although Poison defintely fits it the best tbh.

If I look at my top 10 favorite Pokémon and the main reason why I like it:

  • Design: Seviper (#1); Moltres (#5); Torterra (#6); Rayquaza (#9);
  • Abilities: Ditto (#2);
  • Personality in the anime: Haunter (#3); Mew (#4); Mimikyu (#10);
  • Type: Alakazam (#7); Joltik (#8);

Greetz,

I love both Celebi and the Kirlia line, and them being psychic type is definitely playing a role. The design is extremely important though (the colors, more rounded shapes, being on the “cuter” side..).
Kirlia having TRACE as in-game ability is another big reason: it’s such a badass / rare feature.

As a kid one my favorites based on type was Sableye, dude was a tiny gremlin with a big appetite (me as a kid) and had no weakness in gen 3 with the Ghost/Dark typing.

Lugia is definitely favourite because of Neo Genesis set, all the early artworks and Pokemon 2000 movie. At same time it is heavily associated with water which happens to be one of favourite typings. :slight_smile:

I think I might choose the rotom forms. The most clever way types have ever been used. In base form its an incorporeal electric being. Then when it inhabits objects it drops the ghost type(loses its incorporeal form) and gains a type based on the object’s purpose. The electic type is what allows it to power the objects it inhabits.
