In a lot of my recent replays I would plan out my team beforehand. I would try to use Pokemon I haven’t used before and then I would plan out what their final moves would be. The HMs were always kind of a pain to work around but it was fun regardless. I think my favorite approach is just starting the game and making the team as I go along.
I do hardcore nuzlockes with lower level caps to make it a challenge.
Mine hasn’t really changed since I was a kid, for example;
Me like Aggron, me like Pidgeot, me get Aggron and Pidgeot. Earthquake looks cool move, you learn earthquake.
Also, Dragonite.
Echoing others, i just pick my favourites and grind the hell out of them so elite four weeps when they see my overleveled group of weirdos. Last time i had 4 poison types that i believe isn’t objectively considered the best tactics
I just use whatever I see that makes me go “wow thats neat.” I used a tera dragon Ampharos in Scarlet for example.
