Today’s Question:
QotD: Have you ever thought a Pokemon should have been a different color?

Helpful considerations: Scyther with more shimmering? Rainbow Eevee? Orange Greninja?

Whoops, with all the prototype talk I forgot to post this.

Anyways, I think Pokemon has done a pretty good job on creating variations with different forms or shiny pokemon but specific species like bug and water pokemon should probably have a greater diversity of colors they can be found in. I also like the idea of frog pokemon having more poison dart representation through their colors.

Omg, inb4 Jynx :eyes:

I always thought pink was an odd choice for eggs…

To be honest, I do not know why Dragonite is like this. I can understand the base color is different but the green is so out of place.

I also like how Shiny Mega Gengar looks and I wish the whole line of shiny for Gastly - Haunter and Gengar were white (like traditional ghost color scheme).

Cheers!

Less formaldehyde, more deep royal blue.

I’ve always pretty much accepted pokemon colors without thinking too deeply. However, the relative over abundance of “purple” pokemon in Gen 1 can sometimes be a little boring.

I would revamp two poison types with a different palette: maybe a green one for Arbok, and a blue-ish one for Nidoking (similar to Nidoqueen).

I always thought Electrode not having a higher type of Poke Ball coloring was a missed opportunity. Partially fixed with its shiny, but Electrode should have been Ultra Ball colored against Voltorb’s Great Ball shiny coloring.

Definitely Shiny Mudkip: a pink Mudkip? Why? Wouldn’t it make way more sense for a genetic mutation to result in brown ones that blend better into their environment?

This should’ve been swapped, and the horrible cakey pink removed. The shiny looks so good.

Guess which one’s more common?

since childhood, I have wondered why charmeleon is red. he should be orange like charmander and charizard, very strange.

Similarly, dragonite turning orange is baffling. I think the whole evolution line should have been green, or just make dragonite blue. Something, I don’t know. However you can at least follow the logic of gaining wings, and orange being the complimentary color to blue. There is some logic to it I guess.

Before the next one, for anyone complaining about gen 1 and gen 2 shinies, the way the shiny colors work for them isn’t an explicit choice. It was generated automatically through some coding wizardry. They didn’t hand pick the colors. If I can dig up a video or article on it I’ll post it later. They may have done it that way for gen 3 as well, but I don’t know.

This is very pedantic, but golduck’s head jewel should have been gold. Thats it. And also psychic/water type.

flaafy should be blue, not pink. But that one doesn’t bother me, neither mareep or flaafy look bad at all to my eyes.

ditto should be pink because its a failed blob mew clone. Only mew and ditto learn transform. Interestingly mewtwo can’t learn transform. Deep lore reasoning alone on this one.

donphan should be the same color scheme as phanpy.

cascoon needs to be dark purple, its too easy to mix it up with silcoon.

glalie should be white and powder blue, not white and black, wtf. he is an ice type. looks like a dark mono type.

garchomp shouldn’t look more like carvhanas evolution than sharpedo. Sort all of that out, I have no idea where to start.

make alomamola anything but pink. If you refused to make it luvdiscs evolution as it should have been, then at least make it not look like it should be.

elgyem should be neon green. beheeyem should be gray. nobody’s ever heard of a murky teal alien or a brown alien.

zacien and zamazenta look the same. lazy. Make one of them completely different from the other. zamazenta could be red and gold. Zacien could be blue and silver.

pawmi should be light brown. pawmo should be yellow. Pawmot should be neon orange. Going from dark orange, to light orange, to orange between the two previous oranges is the most unhinged idea considering how lazy their designs already are.

wiglett should be pink

clodsir should be half purple, not brown and darker brown, same for paldean wooper.

I always wished that Eevee was white, as white light refracts into a rainbow when sent through a prism.

We kind of got that with Eevee’s shiny design.

something like this? I did blue exegcute because I buy some at the farmers market. They just happen to be the highest quality eggs. and I did a more normal tan color egg.

and hopefully I was able to give us a decent idea of blue relicanth.

You nailed it completely. This takes Relicanth from Gigachad to Demigod tier.
