Western societies don’t understand the concept of animism. In Asia, the idea that everything possess a soul, even inanimate objects that therefore must be treated with consideration, kindness and respect, is embedded in the mind from a very young age.
The inanimate Pokemons are a manifestation of this animism/shinto/yokai/tsukumogami culture that is foreign to many of us.
They are not lesser or uninspired. Charizard is uninspired ok ?
I don’t dislike every object-pokemon. But they have to be tastefully executed, extremely rare and with some decent lore. Better if associated with ghosts or spirits in general. They should be the exception, not a meme or a Pokedex filler
