PSA slacking ? Will they make better cases soon !??

BGS cases are pure quality, PSA cases are pure standard. None are bad.

How many BGS graded cards do you have?

What does the count have to do with the quality?

Nothing, I just want new members to know you’ve always taken the stance of shitting on PSA, praising BGS, and grading with neither. Carry on.

You’re petty. You take my opinion as fact, check yourself. Just because you keep the majority of your business with PSA doesn’t mean that I can not prefer BGS. I stand by what I say and I deeply believe that my BGS 9 could get a PSA 10.

I’m not trying to censor you or say you’re wrong. I do think BGS’ cases are sturdier and harder to break, but also more prone to scratching, and I don’t like the square corners. I also know we have a bunch of new member since the last BGS/PSA conversation, and I want others to know the score.

BGS subgrades are also an eyesore and their labeling practices basically cripple their entire business model. You spend time locating and procuring valuable collectibles, you send them in to BGS, and they slap a big shiny label on your card that literally critiques and highlights its flaws. When a person looks at a BGS encapsulated card and sees the subgrades, it basically tells them what’s wrong with the card before they even examine it.

Corners: 9.5
Centering: 9.5
Edges: 9.5
Surface: 9

Translates to:

Corners: Good
Centering: Good
Edges: Good
Surface: Crap

Despite the fact that the card is a “9.5”, as a customer, why would you buy a card with a sub-par surface? It’s terrible marketing and I’d venture to guess that it’s a major contributing factor to why BGS cards hold less value compared to their PSA counterparts.

Imagine walking into a used car dealership and seeing a big shiny tag on top of every car highlighting its flaws. It’d be great information for customers but a massive headache for the person that has to sell the car.

If you’re trying to maximize value and marketability of your cards, PSA is a no-brainer.

^ Dunno about that. Beckett commands a premium at the higher end because they’re picky with 9s and 10s. PSA commands a premium with the lower grades because they’re pickier with 5-8. Doesn’t it really just boil down to accuracy and who has a better track record? I don’t mind the sub grades and I think the Beckett cases are beautiful. I just know more people prefer PSA because of the accuracy among non-perfect cards in the excellent to near mint range. Aesthetically I think Beckett is really nice on the eyes, but the newer PSA slabs have definitely got more appealing. This coming from a noob with a single stack of PSA and zero Beckett at the moment.

I completely agree with this. Didn’t think we had to explain this, again. We’ve been through this before, how many times @cullers? I understand why some people are diehard PSA disciples, but that does not mean BGS is lesser in any way. I mean if I spent thousands of dollars on PSA as an investment I wouldn’t want a pesky kid(me) to come in and sway the interest towards BGS.

Skurr.

Let’s make this really clear, Beckett only claims a premium on sought after cards that get their highest grade. If you want to decide to use BGS because you can make more money on the 1 in 100,000 cards vs PSA getting you more in 99,999 in 100,000, go ahead.

BGS 9’s don’t carry a premium on anything. Only certain BGS 10 cards carry a premium.

In relation to the general topic of companies slacking, here is the current reality: PSA was behind, and has already started to catch up. More specifically, PSA was behind due to an unprecedented increase in submissions, mostly from people leaving Beckett. Meanwhile Beckett still has orders from 11 months ago. You can literally have a child in less time than an order processing with Beckett.

In short, PSA had an unprecedented increase in submissions, and is catching up. Beckett has lost business, and is taking longer to process orders. Regardless of personal feelings for either company, this is the current reality. Until Beckett gets their shit together, it is objectively wrong to say PSA is slacking more than any other company.
