I like them, blue labels looked weird but the current black&white and pristine design looks better than PSA. The weirdest thing for me with CGC is the back part being blank other than a QR code.
they need to put the cert number on the back and front same with beckett
thats one thing psa did right ![]()
I’m kinda grateful the market is so heavy towards PSA 10, since I can insanely strong copies of cards I want from CGC, BGS as gems or PSA 9’s for a fraction of the cost. Right now is the golden age of buying vintage and mid era with grading standards being the most strict ever while also having these copies trade at such a steep discount to PSA 10’s
Is it the golden era of buying non-PSA 10s or just the dark age of buying PSA 10s?
That said, I mostly agree, but I’d even extend it to CGC 9s. I’ve been buying more CGC 9s and PSA 9s than ever. CGC has tightened up recently, in my experience. Maybe I’ve just been getting lucky, but I’ve been consistently satisfied with 6x cert CGC 9s. I haven’t noticed any difference in quality between them and the newer cert PSA 9s I’ve bought (which have also been great quality). Yet they’re often half the cost.
It’s night and day compared to 4x cert (and late 3x cert) CGC 9s, which were often extremely sketchy.
You are 100% correct that 6 cert CGC has improved drastically. I did a 400-card submission with them, had decent success with questionable cards, and I think I had less than a 10% gem rate on my recent sub on stuff that would have had a decent chance at gemming in the past. That sub is what made me switch to buying CGC 10’s lmfao. There’s also the YouTubers making videos about crossing PSA 9’s to CGC, and they’re also getting cooked now
