maybe for testing unlimited white border like they did with mtg unlimited? dont know.
if the story about the buyer cutting the sheet themselves and holding onto a professionally cut one themselves is true thats pretty amusing
i’d assume the only reason someone would do this is to maximize profit but what theyve done is literally the opposite of that
dude that sold the sheet is in this thread and said that’s a weird, nonfactual gossip and that he tried his best to cut them with a straightedge, having no access to have them professionally/factory cut.
A sheet of 110 cards worth $500 each on average. For $55k I think they could pay even $5k to have them professionally cut by uncle Billy or someone who doesn’t have shaky hands
Agree, that person’s story does not line up. ‘Tried his best to cut the cards’, I don’t trust that person at all. 99% new account.
Cgc’s grading abilitity, given to me two days ago by customer support:
“ We should be able to grade it so long as none of the following apply to it:
- Cards deemed too fragile to encapsulate
- Unofficially stamped cards
- Fantasy, “Cinderella,” unlicensed or homemade cards
- Original type photos and snapshot photos
- Any card that has been signed in-person and not under the authority of the card manufacturer (with limited exceptions for specially authenticated autographs)
- Newspaper clippings, images cut from publications and other items that were not intended to be sports cards and are not cataloged as sports cards
- Cards that are “sheet cut,” or measure larger than the published catalog size
- Any card that CGC Cards graders determine to be below measurement tolerance and/or an unnatural waviness of the edges will not receive a numeric grade.
- Any card that CGC Cards graders determine to be altered in any form (including artist alterations), counterfeit, replica, cleaned or restored will not receive a numeric grade and will not be encapsulated in a CGC Cards holder.”
Cool. Well ya’ll are welcome to call the owner who chimed in on how they cut it a liar or that you don’t believe them. It sure looks more like it was chopped with a straight edge or pair of scissors than professionally cut to me, but even if he professionally cut one sheet and chopped the other sheet up with a rusty spoon, it’s his choice as the owner. lol
Seriously. There’s no way this wasn’t intentional. I could cut them straighter eyeballing it with a pair of scissors.
Completely agree, he’s the owner so he can do whatever he wants with them, but it’s just a really weird thing to do
I can’t catch up on this whole thread, but did WotC or TPC ever release uncut sheets in any fashion? Decipher would give uncut sheets to tournament participants and ended up selling off a bunch when they shut down years ago. There are a lot out there for the old Star Wars CCG they did. These things are cool, best of both worlds if the company making the cards distributes them in a special way somehow.
No, absolutely not.
I thought they did something like give out fossil uncut sheets in Australia as some sort of prize.
Good point. Yes, you are referring to the KB Toys Fossil uncut sheets that were given out as TCG prizes.
In my head, they are in a different category. WoTC produced the sheets for KB Toys as a promotional item, but I don’t exactly think of them in the same vein as WoTC or TPC/TPCi releasing sheets to the public per se.
I’ve done straighter cuts in kindergarten with Crayola safety scissors.
Genuine question, would CGC still have graded the cards if these were used?
It’s gone from no NFC submissions, to we’ll do a one-off if it is professionally cut, to now hand cut?
There was also the GenCon Fan Appreciation Tournament in 2003 where WOTC gave out sheets for their last official event. There’s a photo somewhere of a kid wearing a rolled up Machamp sheet as a hat. My old PTO also had a Machamp sheet and Jungle theme deck holos sheet from that event.
Looks like PSA slabbed atleast one of these. Curious if this was just better cut or from a totally different sheet. Personally id prefer a cgc one then this beat up one
PSA now slabbing test prints / hand cut cards? What is happening
Edit: I remember they recently authenticated those 3 legendary birds GB promos to be fair, I’m wondering if they are accepting more test print stuff now?
So they did a test print for jungle…then did 1st Edition next, then No Symbol, then Unlimited…?
This feels off. Hmmmmmmm
