I think based on Xio comments about him paying 3k each blah blah that he wanted them pumped up so wouldn’t be surprised if he or someone he knew shilled some
As he was offering 3k for any, I am sure he bought all the ones that sold below 2k.
Interesting article a few paragraphs down Insight into China's largest auction houses: Beijing Poly and China Guardian
thats alt in a nutshell lol
alt has a hard cutoff that is exactly 7 days down to the minute i think, with a countdown and everything
Are you taking into account the 9/29 cards that fell off of the 30 day history today? I thought it was more around 35 but could be wrong
Alt is now requiring a cc on file for bidders got the email a couple of days ago. Hopefully this helps the next round of cards go more smoothly. If that was all shill bidding I am sure some of the paid for cards were also bid on in that manner unfortunately. Will never know
I mean, take this as just ChatGPT legal advice but this is what it told me. If it really is 55 cards, Alt knows who bid on what items and they could easily tell you whether a prolific non-paying buyer came in second place
When someone places a bid and wins an auction, they enter a legally binding contract with the seller, right? Quick reading of the Alt TOS seems to back this up. So Alt should be willing to provide information about the winning bidder for unpaid auctions, or they can be subpoenaed for it (not that the seller would necessarily want to go through the trouble). If nothing else this could expose a bad actor if there is one.
I’m not a lawyer so my understanding of this could be completely wrong.
But if the bidder lives in… let’s say in mainland China, it would be hard to go get him.
In the traditional auction world non payers get banned from bidding in future auctions, some other auction houses/platforms may choose to synchronize their blacklists. To reveal the identity publicly of the non-paying bidder is not something that is done (I would not ask for that either). In contrast, eBay has a more gentle approach to non payers. I think that in the traditional auction world the buyers are expected to uphold a higher standard, whereas eBay accepts that buyers will not pay here and there (buyers also not being allowed negative feedback on their profile). If eBay banned non payers it would wipe out a lot of their revenue. Personally the only place I was ever scammed was on facebook marketplace, a marketplace I see as the least filtered.
Yes if the bidder is from another country it can complicate matters, especially if alternative identities are used. I remember a prominent Asian art auction where over 50 % of the lots were not paid for, from that point onward the auction house required around 5000 as a deposit to bid.
Gem mint said the relists will be on 11/1… so likely more to come.
for every relist does the price drop by 20% ![]()
Based on the sales history, no. Some fall, some improve; there’s a huge range and can’t generalize.
I hope so
In the other thread I remember someone was outbid and then that bid was cancelled and they won the bid. Between this and the non paid for cards, I will be careful leaving any bid before the last moments.
The one I won was on a different platform and was probably free from bid manipulation, I won it at a price that represented 88% of my max bid. The price was not huge, I would be more worried if I left a bid over say $10k. It might be interesting to hear other peoples percentages ( which can be calculated here in the ‘is what percent of’ row https://percentagecalculator.net/ )
66 total protos relisted from unpaid auctions on alt it looks like lol
Out of a 102 card set?! Or were there more?
That can’t be a standard 5-10% unpaid percentage
That auction was absolutely obliterated.
