I had a particular non-TCG Charizard as a kid, and then in 1st grade I ‘lent’ it to another kid who told me the very next day that yet another kid (who was totally afraid of him he promises) climbed into his room through a hole in the wall and stole it during the night. He swore to me that he would hunt the thief down, retrieve the card, and give it back to me. Needless to say, he never gave it back to me. Now as of late I’ve been thinking about it and wanting to locate it, but unfortunately I’m going to have to rely on knowing it when I see it. All I can say for certain about what I’m looking for is in the title. Anybody have any ideas?
You gave us nothing to work with here ![]()
Yeah, that’s what I was afraid of. It’s been so long that like I said, practically everything I remember about it is in this thread’s title. Well, except for the fact that I tend to associate the card with Winn-Dixie for some reason…?
God I wish
I mess around too much XD
Can you give us a hint on the sizing of the non-tcg card, or maybe if it was shiny, etc? Saying you would remember it if you saw it, but not having any memory of it makes me feel like it could be every card, and no card at the same time. :S
edit: thanks for the hint. its like a treasure hunt ![]()
Unfortunately, this isn’t it. Thinking about it some more, it may have been some kind of keychain card, because I can vaguely recall it being sleeved in plastic with a clip attached. Though mind, the sleeve and clip may well have been added after purchase.
No, I know for a fact that it has to have been pre-2010. 1st grade was the year I got into collecting, and DP-P was in full swing back then.
If I really stretch my memory I can say (with little confidence) that the image featured on the card showed a Charizard flying.
Actually, that’s a good question; do I still have my yearbooks?
Edit: Well, they aren’t where I thought they’d be, and to look thoroughly I might have to tear up the house, which isn’t something I want to be doing when it’s almost midnight. I’ll keep searching tomorrow.
There is still the possibility of it coming from years back further too, so Id hate to limit myself to just when you started. T.T
Have you already went back through most of the non-tcg stuff, and checked the artwork? Like Bandai, Amada, Meiji, Topsun, etc? There is so many things out there that arent main tcg related.
My failure to find a comprehensive directory of the non-TCG cards is part of what drove me to make an account here, actually. I’ve seen some of those sets, but I can’t say I’ve seen all of them.
Also, I remembered where the yearbooks are and I found the bastard that robbed my ass. This went down in the 2008-2009 school year. If I can find his Facebook or something I might try messaging him tomorrow.
An older thread, but it checks out. Make sure to thank @Quuador ! ![]()
He’s probably landing his helicopter on his yacht in the Bahamas right now. Go get ‘em champ!
Right, I’ve messaged him. Let’s hope he actually responds…
Edit: Quick update, he has yet to respond. He last posted on the account about a week ago, so it doesn’t seem abandoned, but in the interest of not harassing someone over a Pokemon card, I’ll only be trying to contact him again a couple more times over the course of the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, I suppose I ought to consider the possibility that what I had back then was a bootleg of some sort.
