My have I got a treat for you guys over the next few weeks! I’m sitting on a handful of newly discovered vintage repeating errors but I’m waiting to get a some inhand to study them up close and see if there’s anything extra. Until then hold tight
. Today, I do have a newly discovered repeating error on a card that previously had none unique to it! It’s none other than the rowdy rodent known as Raichu; Base Set 14/102 Raichu to be exact. I call it the “Yellow Diamond Raichu” because the shape and size of the ink mark are similar to that of Red Diamond Squirtle. See for yourself! It is repeating and circulating (unlike a lot of mainstream errors that the old guard has hoarded).
Found this repeating black dot error on the Fossil Holo Moltres. I have manged to source 5 copies of this from searching worldwide.
Also remembered that I found this repeating red dot on the 1999-2000 Base Set Bulbasaur.
Not quite as exciting as the Moltres
jungle eevee with green spot on tail. looks to be a faint silhouette of a butterfly. found 5 or 6 of them in a bulk lot i picked up and have shared/posted about it and asked around for others to check theirs to see if they could find one and no one else has been able to. makes me believe they were all part of a starter deck and ended up together that way…
neo rev magneton, i did have 2 of these which confirmed it was repeating but i sold one of them so i cant prove it, unfortunately
I believe you this is actually a repeating error in the set involving steel types and the ink that was used. I have personally seen it on the magneton, just the Steelix in Neo, but since it’s an ink related error I would expect many of the steel types to have some examples. Infernos was just showing one yesterday! Excellent find!
I have seen this type of error repeat on topps cards as well!
The iconic base set unlimited Charizard 4/102 1999 has a “newly” discovered repeating error. I say this because surely some people have seen it but it’s never been formally documented nor are there any public posts where I’ve found examples. The error is additional magenta ink in the lower 1/4 of the card accompanied by additional magenta ink lines similar to the well known “Red Stain Hitmonchan”. It also has some faint magenta ink lines to the left of the evolution box. I want to stress that this is not the same as other copies of base set Charizard known to have additional magenta ink because they don’t have the lines/streaks. The most notable line runs through the bottom edge of the water energy symbol in the weakness. Maybe we should call it “Red Streak” Charizard? What do you think?
Theres a error with paldea evolved reverses where the feel of the card will be very grainy and non glossy. I made a thread about it in the past
I bought a NM copy of this card yesterday, without errors, and it was actually difficult to find. This card has multiple repeating errors, all seemingly ink errors of some kind. The first, as seen in your example, almost appears as if ink is scraped off from the card, and (from what I’ve seen) it’s always on both the front and the back. I have also seen missing ink in the text, including the illustration credit, on some examples.
EDIT: probably not missing ink, but instead extra / transferred ink as seen in the video @Classyus posted
Wow you actually found some as well? did you already know about or discover these yourself before this post?
Oh yes. If it’s repeating I’m going to try my very best to find it. It’s out there. I did not know about it before you posted so as far as in concerned you’re the discoverer.
