I was floored when I first saw this cameo.
Damn, thank you very much!
I think these were one of the first ‘easter egg’ cards that I experienced when starting to collect Japanese cards. Best part is that the complete image is visible in the postcard of this image.
Cheers!
If you look closely at the sweat on lotad’s brow, you can see the reflection of this same moltres flying in the sky.

Favorite? Easily this card. I can’t tell what’s going on though. Is Samurott about to attack Snorunt? Is Samurott protecting Snorunt? Genuinely just a really cool art and hands down my favorite cameo.
I feel obligated to share my least favorite cameo as well.
I still need to get the Japanese card but the prices feel steep for… this.
Is that a vulpix also?
Venomoth in the carvings in addition to muk!
Eevee on the ribbon, another on the table snoozing, a (seemingly) shiny marshadow goofing off, flabebe going crazy, kang having fun, Vaporeon in time out. 10/10. I don’t regret selling mine but low key be nice if I still had one
Is the lore that feebas appears on the same route as tropius, and it’s always raining or deeper?
Same route yes, but more so the whole composition.
The sea birds and Tropius are all involved in this commotion around the long grass, and they are highlighted by the breaking clouds to the south/south-west of the pocket water where Feebas dwells, which puts you in a very specific place on the map. Then you have this lone Feebas poking out of the water far away from it all, in the weeds, in shadows, in immediacy to the viewer, as if to signify that you’re watching something special (which of course you are, because Feebas is exceedingly rare.)
You just don’t see this level of depth in Pokemon illustrations.
Already posted elsewhere, but it took me about 9 years to notice the Jynx in the corner and now I love it!
Are these in the “cards that go together” thread? They should be.
@Sleepingfatboi one you need to get for the missus
