This incident has been quite chilling for me. This time last year I consigned my lifelong collection through Blake’s Breaks, and I put a lot of trust in him and his operation at the time. It ended up being good — I got my money and I made more than I went in it hoping for — but I was uncomfortable from start to finish and was constantly combatting the vibes that something wasn’t right. At the time I thought it just had to be nerves entrusting something so important to me to a stranger on an unfamiliar platform. But even back then I knew something wasn’t kosher.
He wouldn’t tell me when the streams were, he never told me the outcome of certain things we planned to do. Plus the way we met in the first place was strange — he purchased about $6,000 worth of cards from me on eBay but then never paid. I reached out to him on Instagram, at the time thinking the eBay buyer must be a fake account and I could confirm it and cancel the sale. He ended up convincing me to consign cards through him instead to make more money. Is this how he meets people to get them to consign? Is this part of it?
I’m conflicted because when all was said and done I got paid. And I made significantly more money than I planned. But I can’t help but feel… weird about this. Did he not want me tuning in to his streams because things were shady? Did he not tell me how certain things went because he didn’t do them as discussed? Did we make so much money because he had perfected some grift?
I feel like the risk I took was dramatically greater than I even realized and I’m having retroactive anxiety about what could have gone wrong. Makes me feel sick.
