POP1 vs POP100

Supply and demand

@pokaholic
The demand for english version goes through the roof compared to any other language and secondly PSA actually recognizes them. By all means I’m always impressed after seeing gem mint copies of german etc. gold stars but owning PSA graded copy is risky business, figuring out exact value for BGS version would be much easier task.
Sometimes it’s better to make least amount of noise as possible, you’ll be fine until PSA decides to do similar actions which @cullers had to go through with FPO Charizard.

exactly, that’s what I’m saying. Demand for the german one is maybe 50% in comparison to an english one. Now don’t forget the 43 vs 1. Oh and although the demand is obviously higher for the english one, the prices are quite the same in Germany for the german one. BGS 9 German Ray is around the same price as the PSA 9 English Ray.

now, has this unique story and this mistake by PSA made the card more valuable and sought-after or not? When PSA wrote me back yesterday, they told me to send the card back to crack it open ā€œfor meā€, they would pay the shipping and would even refund me lol

This thing is worth no less than $1 million dollars and anyone telling you otherwise just wants to buy it cheaper and is jealous, clearly. Step aside illustrator. There are ~34 of you and only one of these. Hell at POP 1 if both Bill Gates and Warren Buffet wanted it, it might go for $2-3 billion at auction. Throw in an oil baron and now we’ve got a real bidding war and could see $10B.

I mean PSA made a mistake that they could clearly never make again, there also is no way they could possibly ever decide to start grading foreign gold stars. As a set card as well it’s not like there could be dozens to hundreds of these out in the wild capable of achieving PSA 10 or BGS 9.5/10.

well, there weren’t any the past 15 years that made those grades.

According to what I asked them, no. Because they’re missing some information on German Goldstars, so they won’t be able to grade them (ā€œlack of verifiable information and sources with release dates, check lists etc.ā€)

It sounds like you love the card which is all that matters, it’s just very off putting when an owner pumps up their own card, sounds like a sales pitch tbh

I think we are reaching a point where further discussion doesn’t make sense because in the end, everyone has a different opinion on how much this card is worth. You’ve also heard some numbers, so based on those and the opinions of the others, you can get an idea what might be an appropriate price. In the end, just put up a price that you feel comfortable with.
However, one important thing to consider is that with a higher price there are also higher import fees. For example, import fees in the EU are ~21% of the price of the item + shipping costs.

If I pay 100€ for a card, import fees would be 21€. That’s ok. If I have to pay 1000€ for a card import fees are 210€ That would bother me but I would eventually pay it. And if you try to sell the card for 10,000€ import fees are 2100€. That alone would make me think twice about buying an item that is expensive by itself. I’m just mentioning it because you are shipping from Switzerland so unfortunately almost everyone of your customers will have to pay import fees. Not your fault, I’m just putting this out there.

i would be a terrible collector if i didn’t love my own cards, no?

Just sell the card to one of these great offers you’ve gotten, there is not a single person that can determine value of this card better than you, since you are the only one owning it. Don’t like the offer? Don’t sell it. Like the offer? Sell it. Any discussion beyond that is worthless as it is only about a personal valuation of a psa grading error.

yes.

yes, that’s what i will do anyways. i just wanted some opinions here, and i got some haha. but i understand it’s hard to determine, first because no one else owns it and second because it’s somehow a pop1 but not a pop1 because of hard grading or smth.
that’s why i asked for an approx. value for an english equivalent card. an english POP1 psa10 ray that got graded by PSA by mistake. and they would not grade english goldstars any more. just this particular one got graded by mistake, and got gem mint. would those opinions still be the same? that’s what i ask myself. unfortunately, i’m not aware of a german forum similar to this one here, maybe the opinons were different there.

Pop 1, even trade for yours me think :rage:

i think you love more the money than the cards, otherwhise why would you try to immediately flip the card for 15x the price you paid to Jeremy. You also need to have some guts to come here and try to convince everybody your card is on the same level of a trophy card, as we were a bunch of idiots.
You also have a history of harassing people on items you want, I experienced this on first-hand.

Im glad you would agree
