I’ve tried FB groups, but I also noticed a lot of toxic people and I feel sketchy doing a deal through FB. You also see people shaming over a price being too high just because they don’t know what actual prices are. It’s a fun read sometimes for a laugh, but tough to engage.

Surprisingly that sub is very active

When E4 banned trade threads I was advised on Discord to just go there to make trade posts. For me I don’t know anywhere else I can maintain an ongoing trade thread, so that appears to be the only option now. I’ve not had any bad experiences so far, but I’ve not had any good experiences either.

I think I’ve been using it for three years now, updating it every 2-3 months. Thus far I’ve only been able to find one new Pikachu through it, which I traded for a duplicate of mine. I’ve also sold duplicated Pikachu cards twice (despite only having a WTB post… ). And did a second trade a few months back (not for a Pikachu, though).

Overall in terms of buying with the specific cards I’m looking for, posts like the ones I’ve got aren’t very useful on any media. Even here on the Efour forum I’ve only been able to buy one Pikachu in all the time I had my WTB post (although I did purchase a few more cards from E4 members, it was mostly through Instagram or tips they gave me of current eBay auctions). I mostly buy the Pikachu cards I’m still missing by keeping a close eye on eBay, CardMarket, Yahoo Japan, and some Facebook groups regarding errors. Two years ago I used to check eBay and CardMarket (where possible) every day, but these days I only check once a week on average.

Quaador, you are going to have an impossible time buying or selling niche cards on Reddit. 90% of the posts with activity are hidden fates and the like

The problem is everyone wants a quality resource but is unwilling to pay. This is why you have many fractured mediocre options.

Does anyone here try to use r/pkmntcgtrades? I usually lurk but whenever I look through posts, it’s people offering like 5 cents for NM WOTC cards, people spamming their terrible trades on everyones posts, people offering market price(NM) for gem mint only wotc holos, or people shitting on other peoples cards and providing misinformation(offering $10 for a HP shadowless charizard and saying that’s all the buyer could look to get because the buyer is new) so they can get a card for 20% of what it would actually sell for

I didn’t expect it to be a good subreddit but I also didn’t expect it to be a toxic waste dump lol

Of course there’s some exceptions and I’ve had a few awesome trades from there but it’s few and far between

That’s kind of what it is. I’ve got 100 logged trades. Reddit is random. My post will have 50 comments and I’ll sell 20 cards, and sometimes I’ll sell nothing because everyone wants 25% off everything. But you’re right, it’s not the most ideal setup haha.

I’d rather pay extra on ebay than any other “alternative” marketplace. Ironclad buyer protection. Filter the noise. Skip the bullshit of back-and-forth messaging.

I couldn’t agree with this more. They are all dumps that no matter how many groups are created, they are all the same. Pokemon Complaints International or whatever it’s called is trash too. No groups anymore except E4 and even that’s pushing it .

Gosh there’s the post with this new guy(0 trades) and he posted a binder up with all these old wotc holos. Someone asked him for a pic of his fossil dragonite holo and he posted it and it’s pretty much gem mint. Like 6 vultures swooped down all at the same time and are trying to rip this guy off and I think he accepted like a dollar below NM tcgplayer value for it

it’s against that subs rules to post and tell everyone to basically piss off for lowballing so I pm’d the guy and let him know that these guys are a bunch of jack offs lol. I hate the pokemon trading community sometimes

Whenever I buy on there I only pay G & S and cover the fee, and when I sell I make sure the buyer uses G & S because there’s absolutely no reason not to use it

Whenever I buy on there I only pay G & S and cover the fee, and when I sell I make sure the buyer uses G & S because there’s absolutely no reason not to use it

Agreed! And yeah, I kind of wish they’d make G&S mandatory. It probably cant be done but it would probably eliminate some of the issues on there! I’d say a majority of the items on there arent overly expensive, so using G&S doesn’t really add up much. Ah well, to each their own!
