Pokémon movie Affecting the market ?...

I think the affect will trickle down but it will be minimal at best. The new Nintendo Switch Pokemon Let’s Go game i think will have more of an impact. I know a few people that are keen to purchase the game to play Pokemon on a console and see it projected onto their TV rather than the traditional handheld, and enjoy the enhanced graphics and the like.

Time will tell.

We know. We know. You’re only repeating what everybody said…except in caps lol.

It was the degree of carry over being discussed,

You two seriously think that there are any people in the age 20-40 out there that have had any connection with Pokemon and missed out the Pokemon Go hype? I highly doubt it. As I stated before, 1st Base Zard will not magically double in value due to Detective Pikachu. The people with the cash to jump into Pokemon already did with Pokemon Go. If movies would have had such an impact, than why didn’t we see a tremendous boom with the I Choose You movie? Which was the first Pokemon movie in cinema in many many years. I will not deny, that there will be a gain due to Detective Pikachu, but it will not magically double all sales on eBay, increase the value sought after cards by 25-100% and it won’t bring 100,000 new nostalgia collectors back.

I expect some increase in new collectors buying unlimited base set cards (or 1st ed depending on the individuals preference) just to finish their old binders they had as kids.

Atleast thats what i heard here in Sweden after Pokemon Go had its hypeseason. Lots of people just looking to finish their old binders of Base, Jungle and Fossil for nostalgias sake. Always nice hearing stuff like this but this is all wild speculation.

The only influence I care about is if it influences changes in the Pokemon video games.

Good observation. Not wild at all. I’ve seen the same thing and expect to see more this time around.

Im with swedishrudy here. If there is growth itll be at the base entry level. The first psa card i bought was a 10 1st edition lt surge pikachu. I paid 30 dollars nz for it. Only because i was fascinated not for some collecting investment idea. I see ppl jumping into those kind of sales over higher end cards. The psa6-9 range will see a higher increase imo if anything.
