Are you joking? this post is amazing.
Thank you immensely.
I don’t know how you always find all this information, images and links, but I appreciate it very much ![]()
I’m just throwing here that apparently around half of the gen 2 ones are near impossible to find or even non-existent, not sure if the gen 2 release even got cancelled halfway through
There does seem to be a gap in what has been listed in the past. It could be that the campaigns were stopped prematurely. It’s also reasonable to think that perhaps those ones are just much rarer as less people potentially participated in the campaigns. I guess time will tell.
I came across another release too.
Metal Coin Special Coin Set of 2 (Pikachu & Pichu) / Meiji Dairy (Honey Lemon Promotion)
Promotion of the following:
The bottle has a dotprinted message:
010414/S011
172E
I had suspicions it was the expiry, with 010414 being the date in reverse order (14, April, 2001). I found this webpage confirming as much.

(賞味期限) (Expiration Date)
(西暦下2桁) (Last 2 digits of the Western year)
月日 (Month, Day)
ロット (Lot)
All that to say, one would think they would have been released for the promotion some time shortly before that date.
I found this video on youtube (160 views) from 22 March. I don’t know the youtuber and hadn’t seen the video at the time of making my earlier posts. I think it is worth sharing here.
The logo of ‘BATTLE COIN GAME’ in the thumbnail of the video above is actually for a different series by Bandai.
It’s for these guys:
They were in the July '97 CoroCoro magazine too (bottom right).
I should also mention the product line was not exclusive to pokemon, and is similar to Carddass in that way.
As for the the magazine shown in the video, it is ‘Pojos Unofficial Pokemon News And Price Guide - August 2000’.
I hadn’t seen the article before but just glanced most of it, in an ebay listing:
Those TOMY medals are also seen in a CoroCoro magazine advertisement, too (May '97).
They were also in the Pokemon Hobby Catalog which was released with the CoroCoro magazines in August '97.
It says:
ポケモンメダル
全48種類揃ったダイキャスト製のバトルメダル。キャラの属性によって形状が違うぞ!!
Pokémon Medals
There are a total of 48 types of die-cast battle medals. The shape varies depending on the character's attributes!!
6枚のメダルを振り表面が出た枚数で勝負。
Shake six medals and compete based on the number that land face up.

Edit: I knew I had forgotten an image: The Battle Coins were also in the catalog:
Hello,
I know its been a while since anyone posted here.
But, ive been looking into the Pass Folders and trying to work out which backing cards came in which pass folder number. As far as i can tell there is 30 pass folders maybe 31.
Each Pass folder looks to have come with the same 6 backing cards.
The first 30 Pass folders seem to be only gen 1?
Pass folder 31 had gen 2?
Some more popluar pokemon seem to repeat (Pikachum Mewtwo, Charizard, Eevee) which would make sense if the first 30 folder are just gen 1 (180 backers for 150 pokemon)
Can anyone shed a bit of light onto this topic there just isn’t much information out there to go off.
This is what i gathered up from what i found. i Have no idea how accurate it is since backers could have been swapped or mixed around.

You would think they would’ve released 30, to tie in with the drink name (which contained 30 to denote the percentage of real juice it contained). But there are at least 31.
I’ve seen this contents list in a few locations, however, I’ve also seen it different in other places.
I don’t know if that’s due to people switching them out over time and forgetting the correct contents. I don’t have any confidence in the contents lists.
I was thinking maybe 31 I think I saw a 32 somewhere was part of a gen 2 release because I have seen a few gen 2 backing cards.
I made the list I posted going through every photo/sale post I could find. The 1’s marked on the side are how many times I saw that combination in that pass folder. But some of them could be incorrect as you said due to people swapping and trading.
But I still strongly think that there is multiple with more popular pokemon ie Pikachu, Charizard, Mewtwo, Eevee.
Only because there are definitely 30 cases for gen 1 which total 180 cards.
