Need help with a Pokémon card collection (1999–2007)

Hello,

My name is Sylvie.

I was advised, via Google, to register here to ask my questions. I lost my 39-year-old son a month ago. He collected Pokémon cards, and now I feel a bit lost with this collection.

I would like to know if someone could explain and help me.

All the cards are in small, individual, transparent boxes. They are marked “PSA.” We also have several unopened, still-sealed Pokémon boxes. These boxes date from 1999 to 2007.

I would appreciate some guidance, as these are old cards and I don’t know where to begin.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Sylvie

Very sorry for your loss. If you’re able to share photos of the collection, I’m sure people here will be able to help advise

Thank you for your feedback and support.

I have written down a list. Could you please tell me if it’s worth taking the time to go through it? I am not from your generation, and if I decide to part with it, I would rather make a young collector happy.

Pokémon Cards:

Charizard 1st Edition Shadowless (PSA 9)

Lugia 1st Edition (Neo Genesis) (PSA 9)

Blastoise 1st Edition (Base Set) (PSA 9)

Charizard Crystal Holo (Skyridge) (PSA 9)

Tamamushi University Magikarp (PSA 10)

Shining Charizard (Neo Destiny) (PSA 9)

Umbreon VMAX Alt Art (Evolving Skies) (PSA 10)

Umbreon ex (Prismatic Evolutions) (2026) (PSA 10)

Sealed Booster Boxes (36 packs):

Skyridge (2003)

Neo Destiny 1st Edition (2002)

EX Team Rocket Returns (2004)

XY Evolutions (2016)

Celebrations ETB (25th Anniversary)

One Piece Card Game (PSA 10):

Shanks (Manga Alternative Art) [OP-01]

Kaido - Official Event Top Prize (2023)

Charlotte Linlin - Official Event Prize

Romance Dawn Cases [OP-01] (12 boxes per case):

the boxes alone are 300k+ to a reseller, so yeah its worth checking them out

Wow, it looks like you have a list of some of the most popular cards in the TCG! A list is not very helpful though, as anyone can write a list. We would need to see pictures of the collection. Some cards may be fake or the boxes may be damaged, so that’s very important for value.

Wow! This really is unbelievable!

Thank you for your feedback.
I am going to look into this with my neighbor’s help to find an expert in France to verify everything. I noticed a CGC Cards certification on the boxes, but I will take the time to contact a specialist.

CGC does not verify boxes. As far as I am aware no grading company does

CGC doesn’t grade or authenticate sealed booster boxes… I smell something funky

BBCE was the only entity to do so up until the Logan Paul case fiasco

Please excuse me, but taking photos is the last thing on my mind right now; I am mainly looking for help to understand everything. This is not from my generation. Thank you for your help and support.
I am only here to ask for information. Thank you; I am going to take the entire collection to an expert who will verify everything in person, as it will be much simpler. Thank you, everyone.

Let’s recap.

In 30 minutes, you went from not knowing anything about Pokemon cards, saying that the cards are in small “transparent boxes marked PSA” to having a full list of the cards (with variants), knowing that booster boxes have 36 packs, One Piece cases have 12 boxes, and all the Pokemon collector terminology to name these like “alt art” and “ETB.”

You refuse to take photos but suddenly know an expert who will verify all of this in person.

Nice try, “Sylvie.” You should be ashamed of attempting to exploit the goodwill of collectors with a story about your “dead son” in order to scam.
