Mysterious Token (Snorlax plant token found!)

Right. So I’m assuming the badge and lanyard aren’t the clue, since they match what others have been posting for their badges. However, the Snorlax chilling in Hawaii bookmark is probably the hint. Snorlax + Flowers = I have no idea

Guess away while I compile a table with everyone’s tokens/hints

Notable points/summary:
Users who got coins from multiple batches:
pfm (Batch 1/2)
Rattlesnake (Batch 1/2)
bbobrob (Batch 1/2)
mrbubbles (Batch 1/2)

Users with multiple tokens from same batch:
pfm (Batch 1)
Slade (Batch 1)
bbobrob (Batch 2)
decoypalmette (Batch 2)

Batch 1:
Possibly Braille. Missing magnet info, and I suck at permutations, so I’m not the go to for making a sentence out of it. Maybe Regi related. 2 burgundy coins could have a significance to position in the message?

Batch 2:
Secret power, flash, hidden power seem to be the accepted answer. Again, possibly Regi related here. Also, tokens glow in the dark. Hmmm.
Wonder if there’s a significance to the tokens that came with the different artworks.

Batch 3:
I think it’s calling me fat. Also Regi related?
Flower could be Hawaii’s state flower - Hibiscus

Don’t know if it’s relevant to anything, but the flower is Hawaii’s state flower, the hibiscus. Maybe it’s to tease a new Alolan form of Snorlax

The problem I’m having is trying to relate this 3rd batch to the previous 2. The only thing I could come up with that related the first 2 was the Regis. And even then that’s a stretch, because we never figured out what the magnets signify in Batch 1.

Yeah, it’s all a little too openended right now  Some sort of anchor would help us at least understand what direction to head towards. Guess we just keep building clues in the meantime.

I also don’t actually know the Regi puzzles, so I can’t even relate these clues to that.

Love the chart, indeed it can help when things are laid out. First time I’ve seen it mentioned that Smeargle is involved.

A correction to your statement I feel is needed. This is not the 3rd token style that has been distributed for research. Mysterious tokens are continuously found and are constantly being researched around the world, some more linited than others. Once suitable researchers are found, research materials are distributed, and most importantly they become the property of those who have them.

Now you’ve got my hyper fixated on the Smeargle.

Guess I’ll have to change my wording for the tokens. If someone has a suggestion to how to group/label them, I’m all ears.

No need to hyper fixate but so many people posted photos and went off on tangents without ever putting into words what they were referencing. If the photo disappears then there is no way to tell what they are talking about so its best to start research with the scientific method.

I also received a Snorlax bookmark that matches yours exactly, nothing on the back. No token in my package though, so I didn’t think it was connected to this research.

Hmmm. No I’m even more confused about what the hint is supposed to be.

All three mons on the tokens are basic, normal type pokemon from the first two generations.

Dex number
Meowth - #52
Snorlax - #143
Smeargle - #235

TM 94 has multiple possibilities other than secret power from Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire:
Gen 5 - Rock smash
Gen 6 - Rock smash(XY)/Secret Power(ORAS)
Gen 7 - Surf
Gen 8 - False swipe
Gen 9 - Fly

Question: are all of the decoded TMs, TMs that were originally HMs in previous generations?

Not all the TMs have moves that used to be HMs.
TM94 - Rock Smash/Surf/Fly (as you pointed out)

TM 43 (no HMs)

  • Gen I - Sky Attack
  • Gen II - Detect
  • Gen III - Secret Power
  • Gen IV - Secret Power
  • Gen V - Flame Charge
  • Gen VI - Flame Charge
  • Gen VII - Flame Charge/Shadow Ball
  • Gen VIII - Brick Break/Volt Switch
  • Gen IX - Fling

TM 70 - Flash

TM 10 (No HMs) - Pretty much just Hidden Power. Changes later, but nothing stands out.

Okay, so all the TM clues are field moves then

If we go by field moves, then TM 10 would have to be Dig. It could be, although Hidden Power seems to be the more appropriate thing, given the Cabal messaging. Dig being the field move changes the approach though. Would thematically fit with these being mysterious tokens that were found in a cache.

In that case, I’m leaning more into the Regi Gen III puzzle. You need Rock Smash, Flash, and Dig for the puzzles. Surf too technically to even get to some of the caves. TM 43 being Secret Power is what makes me a little uncertain about the theory.

Secret Power was a field move too, you could use it to make a secret base in gen 3

Yeah. It fits with the field move group. I just have no idea where to take it from there though.

The Pokemon on the tokens don’t appear to be related in any way either besides being basic normal types. Unless the fact that they all have a unique defining features?
Meowth - Talks (anime, opposite of Morse code I guess). Is the money Pokemon (initial tokens were gold, besides the couple burgundy ones)
Snorlax - Eats and sleeps all day, blocking paths (where we’re blocked right now)
Smeargle - Paints (people got a copy of an artwork from the latest art contest)

Talking though it helps for sure. Your comment reminded me that 2/3 had signature moves. Payday and Sketch. I think they’re all in the field egg group too.

@lyleberr where do we take it from here?

Bump!

Same here!
