My First Big-ish Purchase ! (Need a little advice)

Hello E4! I was a bit inspired by @hugs and their post showing off their first bigger purchase, so I decided to show off my recent (first) bigger purchase of two gold stars that I’ve always been a big fan of: Latios and Gyarados! I was pleasantly surprised at the conditions of the cards. Very excited to add them to my collection and possibly get them graded.

In addition to showing them off I was curious if anyone could give some honest advice/guesses of what grades they could earn if I decide to send them off to PSA. I haven’t sent to PSA often, so my experience is a bit lacking. I understand that its hard to predict without the card in hand, but why not give it a shot  . Thanks guys!

Notes: Gyarados has no scratching (that I could spot) on the front or back. Just one small knick on the bottom right.

Latios has light scratching on the left side of holo, but the rest of the card has no scratching. Back has a few chips on the corners.

Any and all feedback or help is appreciated!

9 on Gyarados, 8 on Latios perhaps? One thing I’d suggest is please put sleeves on the cards before putting them in any kind of toploader. The hard plastic can really, really hurt your card.

I’d say Gyarados is a potential 9; Laatios, due to back issues might be something between 7/8; i recently graded a latios (pretty similar condition, solid front, some white on the back) that got an 8.

Appreciate the advice and help! I keep my cards in a soft sleeve and in a top-loader regularly, I just took them out of both for better quality photos

I find it odd that Gyarados is relatively cheaper than lots of other Gold Stars. Its in my top 5 favorite Gold Stars with regards to artwork. Great cards!

I agree! In my opinion the color scheme of the card fits well with the artwork and brings it out a bit. One of my favorites!
