Last update of 2025..yikes time is moving quickly. I was extremely lucky to have @niece assigned as my Secret Santa this year and I received one of the coolest gifts…ever honestly
I go into the details here I suggest you check it out! It’s such a thoughtful, creative and generous gift. If you haven’t participated I suggest giving it a try next year!
The Butterfree illustration? It’s honestly one of the coolest pieces of art I’ve ever seen. One of those things I can just stare at. I was so excited I texted pictures of it to anyone I thought would even remotely appreciate it
. One of those people was my 77yr old mother.
She was hell bent on finding a frame. I told her not to worry about it. Ya know… because…I’m an adult. Also, myself and 77yr old women have different taste. I’m young and cool…and a dude…she’s old…and not a dude. Moms never stop being moms I guess.
When I arrived at our family Christmas she told me she crawled into the garage attic to find some frames she thought would work…after a stern lecture and my blood pressure coming back down I was pleasantly surprised.
I was honestly torn between the two. I thought the pink flower one would be cool but I already live in a grandma house, with grandma furniture. It just felt to '“on brand” ![]()
A little attic dust cleaning and spider rehoming op.
Cutting the illustration was one of the most nerve wracking things I’ve done in a while. Luckily niece doesn’t mess around. The paper it’s printed on is like a paper/cloth hybrid thing(?). It wouldn’t be my first choice for toilet paper or facial tissue but it would work in a pinch if it came down to it. ![]()
The frame was in a different aspect ratio (?) top to bottom. Side to side was good but I opted to take the excess white border off on the top and bottom. Must be a European thing.
I didn’t cut it perfect but if I had to guess centering would be between a TAG 4.73 and I love it ![]()
If that wasn’t enough… my nephew got inspired (possibly jealous) and drew me a Butterfree too. The gift that keeps on giving. I can’t thank you enough niece.
Wishing everyone on e4 and your loved ones the best! See you next year.
