I asked the discord why Gold Star Rayquaza was so expensive a couple of weeks ago, the answer I got was essentially that EX Deoxys had silvering issues on the borders, and high grades were hard to get. I would expect this to extend to the ex cards from the set as well which may explain the low population of 10’s.
I’ve gotten offers for my Deoxys #93 (population 8) $400-500 but nothing crazy but I haven’t sold due the lack of sales data. And I’m not a flipper so I’ll let it sit until I know I can make a fair evaluation.
EX Deoxys had a lot of the silvering issues on the boarder of the cards and they were very very easy to warp. About 7 years ago I took out all my old holos from the early ex series and only the Deoxys cards warped like crazy while the other ones didnt. It was the first set to feature the Gold Star cards and everyone wanted to get them.Plus EX Deoxys was wanted for players due to jirachi, rayquaza ex and gold star rayquaza being used in decks at the time. As the set got older it got harder to find for collectors and Latias Gold star when it was on the last leg of being in the format shot up cause of the BLS deck ( Blastoise. Lugia, Steelix)
@randox,
EX Emerald was more of a combination of sub sets and was only to tie the card game with the release of the video game. some of the cards were reprints of older sets but the main thing people were looking into were the new holo energies that I find to this day the best holo ones out there. The reason probably that there are low numbers of the EX Emerald Deoxys ex was cause it was being played in Mewtrick that year, maybe also the print run was lower than most of the other EX series
Ex FR/LG well the name speaks for itself and of course Charizard ex was the main thing of the set. Blastoise got attention due to the deck that was played for worlds in 2006 and the cards were pretty much all nostalgic pokemon fans dream. Lots of sets like EX Team Rocket, Delta Species & Unseen forces had lots of very high end cards even common cards were fetching 10-20 dollar prices.
No I don’t think one will sell as high again, pop is now 6 so around 4-600 would be a more realistic number now.
Fun fact I actually bought the card for 150 when it was pop 2
Oops I misread randox’s question, thought they were asking about ex deoxys as a set :X Thank you for the detailed reply, this is the kind of detailed information I love to come here for
Several have sold for much lower since. Due to the low pop if you want one right now it may take a $400-600 offer to get one, but I wouldn’t count on one selling for over $250 at auction.
I’d think the auction would be at least $500. Plenty of people want this card in aus alone. Don’t think a PSA 10 even is in aus. Lots of money chasing it
since population went up alot more people who needed it to complete their ex sets got their copies thus its gonna fetch a much lower price since there is much less competition
