I’m new here and found this forum due to watching some smpratte videos. Thanks for that. I’ve been into collecting for around 20 years, specialized on ptcg stuff. Last several months I’ve been looking for TOPPS Pokémon Jotho series 1 packs, all the three different arts but didn’t have any luck at all. Last week a Dutch FB member contacted me with some pictures of the packs. He bought them from a random guy once before he told me. Now that I have these three packs in my personal collection I was wondering how rare these thins are. I never ever found one on Ebay. I Paid 200 euros (220 USD) for the three arts, Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile. Just your thoughts. Does anyone else have these packs too? Would like to hear from you.
The Johto Topps series are definately very rare. It took me a good while to find them myself, I only paid around 40usd for a full set though, maybe half a year ago or so.
220usd sounds very steep in my opinion as the demand is not extremely high, I would probably value them at around half myself
But then again since there’s not any available on the open market at this moment I understand the higher pricetag!
I have a set of the packs. I’ve only ever seen maybe, one or two sealed boxes, and maybe 10 packs in about 4 or so years on eBay.
There is also the johto series 3 packs which is essentially the same set without any of the insert/sub sets and was only sold outside of the US.
In first case he didn’t want to sell them in general. He just showed me their packs. I offered 200 euros myself. Might be the last chance I could buy them in NM-M pack condition Cool you have a set yourself.
Thanks for the info! Do you know Jotho series 1 was sold outside the USA? And why is it that Jotho series 1 Packs are that rare? I heard rumors about a limited printrun but couldn’t find any info online.
