Where is their statement? They had time to post about what makes a Pristine 10 card
I would guess they are trying to independently verify what was said here before making any statement, which is the right thing to do.
Imo cgc should give refunds via the auction platforms they sold on.
Process should be: buyers send cards back to the auction platform, auction platform puts in a refund request to cgc. Auction platform pays it out.
For the people who bought it privately, they go through cgc but good luck getting quick returns.
Thats not how its gonna happen. No auction platform is culpable here and they aint taking no refunds
Oh i agree they arenât culpable. Iâm coming from the view of smoothest way to reimburse everyone. They know the exact price paid/can easily verify it.
That remains questionable. Their public image will require some form of compensation or resolution to this though. It would be a very poor business choice to simply say no and ignore it all.
Idk how cgc will do it even if they do acknowledge this as their fault. Theoretically, theyd be recieving them and paying them out individually. But that would be a nightmare.
Well, like i said, they have chosen to ignore the Magic & Wizards forgeries that they authenticated.
Thank you to @pfm, @linkdu83, @oxidelake, @banks, @tediorso, @ran1n, and everyone else whoâs been able to productively contribute to the discussion and discovery with this massive breakthrough. Without what you guys have done so many people would have continued to be in the dark about these cards. If we only had collectors like you all in the community we wouldnât be in this situation in the first place. Hats off to all of you.
Itâs bizarre how heâs still not absolutely shafted in this hobby.
Finally, a thing we can agree on ![]()
Correct me if Iâm wrong but isnât this exactly why PSA would not authenticate these to begin with? The questionable history and first hand account of these cards and numerous number of them was a GIANT red flag.
This basically the exact same line of reasoning for why the prerelease Raichu was never graded.
Bet no one expected someone to look this close at them, but CGC should have given these a real hard look I suppose before jumping in bed.
Only the known can be trusted!
Those responsible/involved require serious repercussions. Why is it the same names behind the drama?!
It always was controversial when these started to appear like Mr Mime when Ashâs mom was around. And as a result most of us suspected something was fishy but couldnât prove it, so Iâm surprised it took so long for someone to like @pfm to figure out the specifics.
If people have questions regarding the printer dots being present, they can be visible using a phone camera up close and the flash on. Then, on iPhone adjust the saturation and vibrance all the way to the left (rightmost line). Then, change the filter to vivid.
It is a sad day for everyone that is involved and CGC has some serious questions to answer along with Akabane.
Incredible research - feel awful for everyone involved. Also, my username is from Kuroudo Akabane not Takumi ![]()
Anyone else in the most recent eBay set? Mine is on the way to eBays authenticator right now. Wonder how that will go ![]()
Ladies and gentlemen, we got him!!!
Incidents of these things have happened before. I cannot speak for any company or what will happen obviously.
BUT, the recent Heritage auction of Power Rangers costumes had a number of issues. Costumes that were listed as âScreen Usedâ ended up being Touring costumes. Some were a mixture of touring and screen used, or a mixture of Japan Sentai shows and Power Rangers western shows.
That being said, Heritage did reach out to certain people and allowed them to return the costumes that was being misrepresented.
Time⌠will tell.

I wanted to provide more observations about the alpha prototypes.
The dot matrix is different, and Iâve referred to it as the âalpha patternâ in this thread.
I have been using this triangle and these two pairs of dots as a quick way to identify it.
There is a pattern to the dots, and it repeats on a diagonal.
If you rotate the pattern 90 degrees, you get this 16x24 pattern that repeats across the page.
There is a dissertation that breaks down different dot patterns: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/325976319_Reverse_Engineering_the_Machine_Identification_Code
The alpha pattern matches the âCornerâ pattern in this paper, you can see the âcornerâ in the top left grid above. As mentioned, this is the pattern produced by Konica Minolta (Japanese brand) and some Epson printers.
Placing the alpha pattern on top reveals they match.
This paper also mentions this pattern: https://dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/3206004.3206019
It seems like this pattern has not been broken publicly. Both papers conclude there is likely no time information encoded, but presumably you could get the model number and check when the model was released.
This may be as far as I can take it. If US Federal law enforcement decides this is important enough, they have the potential to request the company to decode it. A Freedom of Information Request has revealed that they have a working relationship with Konica Minolta (or, at least the two separate companies before they merged):

Yellow dots?
Noticeable line goes across card horizontally. Not sure if others have this.
I think I have the âchicken poxâ dots you described in your post above, but they donât seem to align with the other HQ backing you posted.
