Many of the Pokemon playtest cards were likely printed in 2024

Here is some of my cards. I’m scanning a couple more now.
My scanner isnt so great, but hopefully these help!

When it comes to numbers of internal stuff like this take it with a grain of salt. Granted there a few people involved at the beginning, but he may not know what the others were doing. He may remember 10 but someone else may have been working on them and had more printed. A lot of times employee’s just have no idea on everything the other employee’s are doing. In addition, after 30 years… memories do get fuzzy.

I was once shown a internal book of former employee’s and projects they worked on. One person worked on a unproduced piece and finally I was going to locate it or find some answers. Called them up, and after decades. To them the job was just a job… they had completely forgotten about what I asking on!

Once someone finds the old TikTok video from xiao xiao ,where most of the fakes seemingly came from or had a tie to him, we’ll see what he was printing off. Whether they have MIC data or not if they were shown with him over in China I think that’ll be the fork in it all.

Forgive me if I’m drawing the wrong conclusion, but based on this I’m inclined to believe that the HQs are the real deal, and that the LQs were perhaps not scans/photocopies but are in fact printed from the original digital files given the cleanness/lack of artifacts (in 2024 and on a lower quality printer/with less knowledge of proper formatting for print); though in that case, it’s even more alarming if Akabane was willing to sell original digital files privately. Might be barking up the wrong tree entirely though, there’s so much info to keep up with that I’m starting to feel a bit muddled.

MMR cant come sooner lol

Imho these are much easier to test for authenticity because they will use a dot matrix and rosettes that you can test without the printer analysis. This is much harder to fake as well. From another POV, it would be difficult for forgers to get this right.

Next time Ken Sugimori and I are hanging out at karaoke together with Akabane, we will exchange words. We’ve been disappointed in his singing for years, but now we are just disappointed in him. More at 11.

Well according to ALT, CGC are taking it “very seriously”…

…whatever that means.

Z&G have removed some they had coming up on auction but had sold 6 figures of them recently that are on the way to eBay authenticators. Ouchy.

I wouldn’t make a claim either way at this point. It’s just inconclusive.

If anyone has high-res scans of an HQ beta back I’d like to see them

More like - we want the auctions for these that we have running to finish before this gets worse.

There’s a pricey raichu on alt just now and 2 others that were climbing

I’ve just messaged alt.xyz, who I bought from, explaining what has been brought to attention and requesting they investigate / prevent auctions from currently occurring until answers are provided

I posted it above, the scan is in 900 dpi:

There are no yellow dots cf. my previous message.

The concerning thing is the quality of the print when you see it in high resolution, I don’t know if it was possible to print with this quality in 1996 (see the white lines in the blue background)…

Another interesting thing is that the back is different from LQ beta and alpha and the ones like on the Gyarados, indeed apart from the quality of the whole obviously, the “CARD GAME” seems to be written in relief.

EDIT: Damn the resolution is lowered here, the original picture is 3000x5000.
I can send it to you in a PM if you want.

Looks like Fanatics has removed all the current running auctions on these. They have disappeared off this weeks auction completely.

Just got off the phone with HA and gave them information about the cards I purchased having the 2024 dot matrix marking. Theyre going to do some kind of internal review and get back to me.
