Many of the Pokemon playtest cards were likely printed in 2024

Goldin told me that support team was looking at my request but the cards are definitely still up

What I suspect is that the HQ beta back is a scan/copy of the alpha back similar to this → Many of the Pokemon playtest cards were likely printed in 2024 - #143 by pfm

In this case a second layer of dots was not printed on because, presumably, the printer used for HQ beta does not add dots

You can see some of the alpha pattern appearing in the pokeball (looks like chicken pox). In this case, the dots that would be overlapping the blue parts were not picked up:

Higher res images would be great to help figure this out.

If it is true, that means the HQ beta authenticity is contingent on the alpha pattern authenticity because it implies the HQ beta was printed after the alpha prototype (whether it was 1996 or 2024 is unclear)

Hello! I’ve just made an account on here after finding out about this.

I have several alpha and beta cards I purchased with Alt and are stored with them. I already contacted them about what will happen with this, and if their insurance covers it.

Is there any instructions on how to check my scans for the 2024 printing dots? I wanted to see if I could find out any more.

The certs I have are as follows:
6006899012 ALPHA
6006899024 ALPHA
6012622039 BETA Signed
1401042299133 BETA

No discernible dots from that image, which aligns with the other HQ betas

Someone can double check, but HA removed all their early Feb Prototype Card listings.

And this doesnt mean that theyre authentic either, right? Its just inconclusive?

I noticed this as well, when i was trying to show the agent the listings they disappeared.

edit: just got a call back and can confirm that HA is waiting for a statement from CGC on how to proceed.

Right, i think its important to mention here that this is really the fruit that poisoned the well.

My 2 cents on this: i own 4 different betas, 3 of which have dots while this one hasn’t and is the only card that shows some marks, you can even see a stain on the mid right, some of my 1996 japanese cards have similar stains. I dont know if this card is fake or not but honestly it looks much older than the others I have

The 369 cert cards all seem to be HQ

I think the Akabane interview that was just done a few days ago (allegedly) will clear a lot of things up. Also, remember that CGC graded and “authenticated” the weird test sheets that got printed out. SSB, illustrator, Snap cards etc

Here’s something interesting…where did xiao get pictures of a Chinese factory attempting to fake the cards? Probably just found these on google right…wtf

Edit: /s

With the white card the paper is stuck to, do we have an idea of where these could have originated from in the newly fabricated cards?

One thought. In Magic The Gathering you have artist proofs with blank backs. There are examples where people have removed the coloring on the back of standard set cards to make them appear to be artist proofs. You can tell the difference though because the blank back on legitimate artist proofs has the correct surface, the altered cards white back has more of a matte appearance. Of course with the newly fabricated prototypes they could have had original card stock for example which would rule this out as an authentication method.

Nah, xiao is probably complicit in this. He had a tiktok or reel or whatever posted awhile ago with him having a bunch of the now confirmed fakes some people were saying. They’re all asleep rn in Japan and China so we’ll have to wait and see if anyone has it saved

Looks like Fanatics pulled all their playtest auctions. Not seeing them anymore.
ALT and Goldin still has them listed
Heritage has some coming up.

Edit: I realized someone mentioned the fanatics one above, whoops

I messaged them, didn’t get a response though. That’s good that they pulled

I doubt he “found” them. More likely hes making some and is intimately aware of the forgeries. Youll never find out who hes involved with and it could lead back to the source. Theres no reason to discount that possibility. There are an army of middlemen handling these and because of who is actually involved there are so many “proprietary” secrets, so nobody can realistically determine where its coming from. It could be a leak from one of the two layers of middlemen.
