Major Pokemon theft in Denmark

Stolen from your house? Was you home or out? Most likely it’s someone you know that knows you collect. Watch out for neibors “friends” and even family. Often it’s someone close to you. Was anything else missing or a direct hit on just the cards?

Nothing else. Only the TCG stuff. Also VS System booster boxes and some other sets, but they went directly for the TCG. I was out at the time.

Think of who knows you have a collection. Remember I know it sucks but sometimes it might be family or friends. Money can be the root of all evil. Hope you recover your stuff!

If these items were all stolen from your home, my guess is that this has to be someone that you know. Have you shared information about collection to anyone you think may be the culprit?

Such a suspiciously-specific theft. Had you made any big purchases or sold any big items recently? My first thought in your situation would go toward someone who both knows the TCG and has your address, i.e. anyone you’ve bought from or sold to recently.

Absolutely terrible, would you post the certs publicly as well or for just the police? I will have a lookout for this on the dutch marketplace.

If the thieves know what they are doing they will likely crack + regrade. This might be another plus for ai grading because that will not be possible when the cards have been added into a database, although it is small, it will be a big help in these kinds of situations in the future.

At the moment I can’t comment any further though. All I can do is to spread the word around, whilst the Police are working on the case. They have several leads.

There are some leads for sure, but I can’t comment on it as the police are investigating the case.

I have closeup pictures of the fronts and backs. Especially the PSA cards. Even if they crack the cases, the placement of the holofoil still works somewhat like a fingerprint.

Nice, glad they didn´t get everything at least! As sad as it is these days, high value collections need to live in vaults or similar protected locations.

Du kan godt få forsikring imod det. Det er bare ikke under det typiske indboforsikring. Jeg var i stand til at få en udvidet forsikring til mit gennem et forsikrings bureau. Hey everyone,

I’m writing to inform you of a major Pokemon robbery, having taken place in Denmark this past weekend. Well over $100.000 worth of products have been stolen from me.

If anyone from the nordic countries attempts to sell you Japanese PSA 10 Base cards, Neo Starter decks, VHS Intro sets, CD Promos, sealed promo lots, artbox stickers boxes/cases, as well as a major collection of raw Japanese Neo cards - then it might very well be stolen goods. If anything suspicious pops up, please let me know. It’s important for me to make it as difficult as possible for them to sell the items.

The police are taking it very seriously and are investigating the case as we speak. Most major collectors within Scandinavia have been or are being contacted. I’ll update the post with a complete list and descriptions shortly.

Please let me know if you stumble upon anything suspicious. - And be careful with your collections. This is a completely devastating situation.

This situation sucks and I hope this ends in some kind of happy ending.

Things like this are sadly inevitable with the continuing rise of prices. My advice to anyone would be to not make your home address known (I use a forwarding address when buying items) and to store any valuable items away from your house completely - any cards I own which are worth more than $300 are stored in a couple of safety deposit boxes at a bank and would probably be using PWCC’s vault if I was in the US.

I doubt this new AI system will have any use on PSA 10 grades from modern TCGs like Pokémon. It would have way too many false positives. This would work great for lower grades where blemishes, marks and damage are present which give the card its own unique fingerprint so to speak, but on PSA 10s the only differences are usually subtle colour changes and minor centring variations - things which thousands of other copies of the same card would still share.

I can’t even imagine how that would feel… I will keep an eye out on the Swedish marketplaces for anything suspicious.
