Mega Malamar ex likely not in this set, but TPC tends to reuse Pokémon across multiple releases for potential new Mega ex in the future (e.g. Delphox in M4 Ninja Spinner → Mega Delphox ex Gym promo)
Does this mean a lot of the Pokemon depicted would have a more sinister vibe? Like Dark Pokemon? Like the Zarude and Chi-YU depiction seems to be aggressive. Would be interesting.

I think so, from the way they presented cards on page “other types of evil Pokémon will appear”. Although by TPC’s standards with other main expansions, a third of the Pokémon in this set might have this theme (just to temper expectations)
