Legend Maker Swirl Master Set

Legend Maker ウズマster set™

Over the past few years I’ve been trying to collect various reverse holos from the ex era. I grew more interested in the Legend Maker set. I realized something. This set is the one set where the reverse holos also used the cosmos holofoil that normal holos use.

I had an idea…

I wasn’t sure if itwould be possible; I determined I was going to get a master set of ex Legend maker, and every holo card was going to have a swirl on it. It had to be possible right? Over two years later, I can say I have finally done it. I achieved a unique goal. I have a master set of Legend maker with all swirls!
I felt I have the right to give my unique goal a name. I decided to call it a Uzumaster set. This is a combination of the japanese word Uzumaki to mean spiral, (a sign of good luck) and master. The phonetics and spelling overlap in both English and japanese pretty well. Uzumaster set™/ウズマスターセット™.As far as I know, Legend maker is quite unique in that its the only set you can do this with as far as the reverse holos are concerned. In other sets it wouldn’t be too hard to get all holos with a swirl. It’s ambitious, and it was fun.

This concludes a 2+ year journey to get swirls for all legend Maker cards.

Congrats on your big completed goal and welcome to the forum! The video probably is a better format capturing all of it but can you also share your favourites as photos here so they can be viewed more easily?

This is indeed part of the plan! No worries.

Once I get a little more familiar with the quirks of formatting on this forum I’ll make it nice too. I have a V600 scanner so I can get nice scans. But it will all take time to edit up nicely. I just really wanted to get this ready to share ON christmas. And I also had to juggle this with the FireRed&LeafGreen and Team Rocket Returns project too. Consider that we are talking a few hundred cards to document, and I was running low on time.

It will all come together. I’ll probably also do an edited video as well, I’ll linger on each card for maybe 2 seconds. At least thats the hope. But I’ll leave a bunch of images here.

Alright, I just uploaded my whole binder. Now before you go "  axchualee those trainer cards don’t have swirls". They do, okay. The trainer cards in particular were absolute pains in my buttocks. I have to shine a 1000 lumen flashlight at point black to reveal the swirl on full flame. The cards are just pitch black, gray and full of complex art. I’ll eventually get photos of those as well. And yes, aggron reverse holo is missing. I have NO idea why I took it out of the binder. But I do have it…somewhere. Behind the scenes I’ve done a ton of organizing and reorganizing cards, and things get lost in the shuffle sometimes. This though, makes no sense. The video shows I do have it.

As a huge legend maker fan, that’s a great collection! Reverses being cosmo holo were such a blessing

Legend Maker is such a goated set, congrats on fulfilling your ambitious goal!

Out of curiosity, were there any surprisingly easy and/or difficult holos to find compared with what you anticipated?

yes, some cards are weirdly hard to find a swirl on. And they aren’t popular pokemon thankfully. But I’d say the #1 hardest was lileep. It has pretty much 2 small spots where a swirl can show up. I have only seen a copy show up twice including the copy I got.

The other one you might not expect is a strange situation. Its the reverse holo muk. The regular holo muk has the swirl show up all the time. But the reverse holo muk, again, I have seen fewer than 5 times have a swirl.

Some have less common swirls but in general those are the worst offenders by far. I even was afraid it was an impossible goal at one point. But they did finally show up.

Oh wow, that is interesting! You’re right in that I never would have expected lileep and Muk to be the primary difficult ones (I’m not sure who’d I have guessed, but not them).

Regardless, congratulations on completing your lofty goal again :slightly_smiling_face:

EX Legend Maker is my favorite set of all time and I am BLOWN AWAY. This is such a cool accomplishment and congratulations. I’m still in the works of wrapping up my own master set (six cards away - Commons and Uncommons if you can believe it) and this is giving me that extra bit of inspiration to continue the search.

Congrats!

yeah its mostly a matter of holoable space. Both cards have very little space. I also forgot, omastar is probably the other one that was really hard. However that one has lots of space for holo pattern, and I remember only seeing 3 copies of it.

@johnnymucho glad to have you enjoy my hard mode goal. Good luck finishing your own set. I think there are some factors working against the popularity of this set, but the overall theme of the set still excites me.

Ah, that makes sense and is very interesting.

EX Legend Maker reminds me of a Jungle and Fossil remix set, two sets integral to my childhood before I full on jumped into Pokemon again as a teen. It’s such a beautifully composed and nostalgic set with a little bit of everything for everyone
