Auction in the UK with over 40 vintage mastersets was done.
I hardly could believe some prices.
I read about this auction on the BBC website today. The collections belonged to a retired decorator who collected them 1990s because his son was into Pokemon

It was really nice reading it started as something he did with his kid. Then just went wait too hard with. Some seriously cool stuff in that collection. Nice to also see master sets and the odd single too. Makes me feel like maybe not every part of the hobby is completely wrecked.
They left them in ring bindersā¦
Also the interview/article on the BBC is wrong. The story says he bought them off a collector from Malaysia for 300 pounds in the 1990s but most of the sets were released after the 90s.
Which also triggers another memory for meā¦most of us reminiscence about the vintage days but Iām assuming we only got single packs? I knew a kid whose parents bought them entire booster boxes. And because he had so many holos/rares they were kept in binders. I definitely know that he was collecting at least until the e-Series era. I asked about it more than 12 years ago and he said he just gave them away to some kid lol.
Malaysia is small, and though Iāve only been truly back for around 5 years, I havenāt seen this kidās collection pop up anywhere. I donāt think it was this auctioned one though since there donāt seem to be many duplicate holos - unless they were all sold off prior to this lol.
I read Malaysia.. Kid with money⦠Bangsar Shopping Center, the store on the last floor, Every Saturday? Beginning of the 2000s?
I used to know a ārich kidā like this back in the KL days
Haha I donāt know if weāre talking about the same kid but definitely in that timeframe of early 2000s and probably Bangsar Shopping Center. I donāt know where he opened his cards just remember rows and rows of holos in his many binders lol.
The shop used to sell comics as well I think and other TCGs.
Yes, yes! And it was run by a Chinese lady! The world is a small placeāI used to hang out there every Saturday to trade cards. I remember when Skyridge was released, one of the āolder kidsā (he was like 14 or 15) pulled the Crystal Zard in his first pack. He was always lucky⦠good old times! I canāt believe I met someone here who actually knows this place, haha
