Was browsing on Letgo, and was going to buy this guys collection when I noticed he had mixed in some pretty high end GX rainbow rare cards that looked wierd. Looked at them closer, and they were 100% fake. Just throwing out a PSA. As if everyone didn’t already to know to look out. Local scams do exist, obviously!
I bought a huge lot a couple months ago and 99% of the cards were all real, but I’ve found a small handful of pretty good fakes thrown in. Some of these are scary good and I can see how a novice collector would get totally scammed. I plan to make a video about it in the future. I noticed right away because the cards felt weird, but there were other issues too upon closer inspection. Scary stuff
I was going through some of my old bulk and man I can’t make heads or tails of some of them. The card stock, font and print quality seems fine but the coloration on the backs of old WOTC cards is random.
There is a local guy that seems to have good success selling. What I think a lot of casual people don’t see from his pictures is that he has some ‘custom’ gold pokemon cards mixed into the binders as well as some of the Fukuda signed cards he got in Japanese using his daughter in the Dallas signing event as well as some other super shady stuff. I really doubt he represents those cards to anyone as fake or custom and I worry about any parents buying them for their children or general people getting ripped off.
