In my case, it’d be a half true …
Despite I’d install the app and open the 2 daily boosters the app might give you, I don’t have any interest in spending real money in this application …
Honestly I find more interesting collecting physical cards than digital cards …
I used to be a big PTCGO collector, I had the rarest stuff in it and then Pokémon destroyed it. I really like games with a marketplace. I was also big in CSGO as well.
I can’t answer for @triple but for me it’s like Pokémon go where it’s just game. It won’t take the place of my collection but it’s fun to open the free daily gifts and participate in free events.
Long Answer: I am passionate about Pokemon as well as collecting rare stuff whether it’s digital collectibles or physical. I am somewhat incentivized by money with collectibles because it gives me a unit value of where I’m at in my collection and something to build off from. If everything was worth 0 I probably wouldn’t be a collector. It’s like playing a video game, you play it to train your character and gain progression stats as you go. If we as humans could see our real life stats and everytime we did a push-up we see our STR stat go up, more people would probably work out because you are making visible progress. Sorry weird analogy.
Possibly, it all depends on how well it is executed. If the app has the ability to easily battle against friends, a good looking interface, and includes vintage sets, I would gladly spend 5 bucks on it. Over the many years of ptcgo, I probably spent around 20+ dollars or so on codes. The amount of entertainment in return was well worth it.
Idk if anyone here has used any of the Topps card apps, but I did for a time enjoy collecting with the Star Wars Card Trader one. Racking up daily credits to buy packs and every week they’d add new small sets to collect, including parallel and limited cards. If this were similar to that then I’d be interested. I would love swapping cards with others for fun.
I wouldn’t spend real money for digital cards though. Pokemon already killed one app, so I wouldn’t want to put actual money into anything that may not be around long term.
Yes I would give it a try but I wouldn’t spend any real money. I like opening packs and if I get to do that for free a couple of times a day, it sounds fun.
No, I don’t trust that any digital TCG app created by Pokemon would have the longevity required for me to safely spend money on it. Apps are sunsetted and shut down way to often for my liking. This is what, at least the second TCG app from Pokemon? When I spend money on a physical card, I know the same can’t happen
