My buddy went to CAC in Orlando. I am a big team up enthusiast and he called me to tell me he found a team up box. Long story short we did the deal and I received the box this morning. I didn’t realize until I took it out of the box that the seal was basically upside down or inverted.
I’m currently in contact with the vendor and the source the vendor got it from, and the source that vendor got it from etc.
Looking to see if anyone is familiar with this error or can somewhat validate that this just happens in the factory. From what I can find, there isn’t much info other than “resealed boxes”, but even then, the box is pretty much pristine.
In my experience it can happen to any set and is abnormal but hardly rare enough to be concerning. I’ve seen it on a lot of WOTC and ex/d&p sets.
I opened a case of fusion strike that they just forgot to wrap inside direct from pokemon center. If you search around the Internet for pics of boxes from that era or B&W/XY you’ll see plenty of examples. Even if it’s not on a team up box specifically
I have a Unified Minds box just like this and had the same worries, but after looking around I saw plenty of examples of this being the case for a box. Like said above its abnormal, but not uncommon to see from time to time. If the seller was reputable and the rest of the box looks good I wouldn’t worry too much.
Its unlikely they went through all the trouble of re-wrapping just to wrap it completely inverted. Likely just a factory error. Trust the vendor, and if see if they are willing to back the box if you were to open it. If you aren’t planning on opening it, there is no real verifiable way outside of scanning to know what you have.
All that aside, I think the box looks fine, though I don’t have one on hand to compare.
I brought it to a local LCS and what they notated was the smaller ball - sees to be common issue around that area comparing to other boxes AND the front of the box has a very, very tight seal. Towards the middle, to the top, the plastic doesn’t move
Yeah it gets tighter around the heat shrink so it’s normal for them to distort around the seams or other higher stress areas. And each heat shrink would be slightly different
The top flap isn’t broken meaning it’s a fairly new box. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a tight seal.
That era of box seems to have 50/50 chance of the wrap having logos on the back of the box too so either looks legit. If anything the non logo’d back would be harder to fake as it’s a less used wrap.
I don’t personally see anything that would sus me out
