Does anyone have any experience hunting down unlimited XY8 cards? I feel like I have a mammoth task on my hands trying to pick up the 4 Houndooms from this set.
So far my strat has just been trawling ebay (0 found), yahoo jp (0 found) and buying raws blind from card shops in hopes that some unlimited get mixed in, as I know a lot of the stores don’t differentiate in their titles or listings for 1st ed / unlimited (0 out of 115 purchases so far).
Is this a lost cause?
I don’t know about XY8 specifically, but I had to hunt down XY9 Greninja cards. Cardmarket was actually where I found the most of them, along with one mislabeled ones on eBay.
Found a few, you just have to make sure that the ones marked as non 1st Edition actually are.

The Full Art seems to be the only one without a NM copy.

Best of luck, I had it work out for me that they were not listed wrong. Was so happy when I discovered it because I had been looking on just eBay and Buyee for about a year.
Just commenting here that I’m myself in search of Unlimited XY8 Staraptor, so if anyone has it or knows someone who has, please hit me up. And well yeah, so far I only found like a handful of unlimited Red Flash listings at all and no Staraptor (or Houndoom for that matter) in them unfortunately.
I love rare set cards like these. Its nice to have rare chases on your species hunt
Did you try mercari (japanese)?
That’s where I bought 2 unlimited xy10 box.
Would second Mercari Japan. It’s where I found pretty much all of my unlimited cards (though they were not as difficult to track down, or maybe I got lucky).
I’ve hunted down a bunch of XY unlimited cards. I’ll keep an eye out for you.
Just doing a quick search I found the Spirit Link ued XY8 with the Houndoom cameo
There’s also a few people on IG that are unlimited collectors and may have or be able to help source for you.

Thanks to everyone who helped me out here & in dm’s, today I got some grade results in and completed some cards I was beginning to really lose hope on
huge to find those, let alone in 10 condition
yeah I’m so hyped. Only need the full art regular houndoom now, hopefully it isnt too much of a mission to get one. This is probably one of the biggest non-money related hurdles to the houndoom master set so I’m really happy with these

Big congrats! Those cards are pretty hard to find in unlimited edition, so to get a PSA-10 on all three is amazing!
