How much value do subgrades add for you?

This reminds me of those MBA Diamond/Gold labels. They grade your graded card. I assume this is also a type of sub-grade.

For higher end collections, I believe sub grade would be always necessary.

If the same high end card changes owners frequent enough, it will eventually get graded with sub grades.

There are much more dramatic premiums than that in Magic. An example that comes to mind is BGS 9.5 basic 2ED Volcanic Eruption being >$20k while the BGS 9 is worth ~$100. Many MTG registry collecting premiums make Pokemon PSA 10 premiums look very tame.

My goodness - that is quite the precipitous drop off. I think many 10 premiums in Pokemon are out of control, this is on a whole different level

I won’t buy CGC or BGS cards without subgrades, and I never consider grading without them. To me, it’s a feature of the service and if they are missing it bothers me. It feels incomplete. Kinda like what PFM is saying but slightly different maybe. If we are talking about a $100 + collectible I would just always want to spend the extra $10-20 for all the bells and whistles.

Plus there IS a financial benefit to getting them on graded MTG from BGS. Quads command a premium so if my submissions are good enough to earn quads I want to roll the dice and hope BGS agrees. Even adds an extra bit of challenge to collecting generally.
