How did this grade a 10? Has anyone seen this before?

I bought this PSA 10 card through Ebay. For a hot minute of intensive scrutiny, I genuinely thought it had been tampered with (pointed damage on the side of the slab and the markings on the card itself, both much more clear in person). But from the looks of it, it’s an authentic slab and even the PSA photos match up with the spots on the card (minus the slab damage, which must’ve come later and was technically visible in the Ebay listing).

I’m kinda new to collecting graded cards, but how did this grade a 10? It gets lost in photos to some level, but you can see the markings, some sort of blue ink in various spots. I know PSA allows specks or spots here and there, but this is blatantly smack dab on her face, with a few spots on her arm, one on her hand, one on her pants, some in the background, etc.

I’m also curious if anyone knows or can theorize what could’ve led to these blue markings.

Just a classic case of PSA messing up unfortunately. It’s been known to happen, but it sucks you didn’t catch it until the card was purchased and in your possession. In regard to the ink itself, it just looks like someone accidentally dropped a pen on it or something lool

Welcome to the forum!

Buy the grade, not the card!

People both new and old to the hobby need to understand the numbering system isnt perfect. At the end of the day there is someone giving their opinion regardless of their experience with the company.

LOL there’s no way, thanks for making my day better hahah

wait this might be the greatest graded card ever
