they buy new product and then display their purchases in a case or just out in the open. add a psa 8 slab of a $6 card for good measure.
It’s the fact that they went to a target two weeks ago and now part of their home looks like a retail shelf. No creativity, no real passion, no forward thinking when it comes to storage.
you threw up consumerism all over your bedroom dude. now go grab a bucket and a mop for your wap (weak ass purchases)
New collectors often come from a background in other hobbies with active self-regulation and a clearly defined, rigorously maintained demarcation line between shovel users and shovel sellers. As a result, their early experiences will often be frightening and bizarre as they unknowingly step right into platforms where people wage war over 5-8 figure vested interests.
As someone who’s 18 and has been collecting for 10 years it’s a little trashy seeing guys new to the hobby (that are twice my age) rip packs with reckless abandon and call EXs “pity pulls” like bro I remember even pulling a non full art EX was sick in the BW/XY era.
Also seasoned collectors will look at an expensive sealed product they remember sitting on the shelf back in the day and wince at it being $1500 now
I would say a seasoned collector is able to purchase a card without checking price charts. Similarly, they’re willing to pay over last solds if the card is underrated by the current market. At the same time, they stay away from cards with inorganic demand.
