I have this Rocket’s Sneak Attack that got Missing Print Layer from CGC instead of Insufficient Ink like my others. Maybe this card is missing the second K layer?
Correct, or at least the levels are low enough that the grader considered it missing.
Great information guys! As noted already, I don’t think the “insufficient ink” layer is quite the same as the literal stamp since the stamp is placed after the rest of card is printed. Still worth a mention as a related subject!
I was hoping for a non base set example just to show they can happen.
@PokemonClassics ill take whatever you have lol
I’d love more holo examples for grey stamps but I don’t need many really. The video is more info based than showing repeated examples. Zack already did a great job of that.
That’s a great shot man
Off the top of my head, WOTC sets with gray stamps include:
Base - 1st edition symbol (also has white and black back stamps)
Team Rocket - Smudged 1st edition Stamps
Gym Heroes - Gray 1st edition stamp
Neo Genesis - Gray 1st edition Stamp
Skyridge - Gray Skyridge set Symbol
So most of these are tied to a specific symbol. I have seen low black ink on Jungle, Fossil, Rocket, etc. for all the black text on a card. These are more faint and stand out easier side by side another card. Looking at straight up and you might not catch it.
@shockerb37 has been collecting low black ink Rocket cards. He’s put together an amazing set. Many errors may be a case of: look and you’ll find it. Now I see low black ink Rocket holos more often, but rarely as significant as Shocker’s set.
The list above isn’t exhaustive. It’s the more common gray stamps that pop up.
I apologize for the delay, but having a baby and working a full time job does not leave a ton of time for my hobby! I hope you guys enjoy this comprehensive Gray Stamp video as I tried to squeeze in plenty of sample pictures and information. I gave a ton of credit to @gemmintpokemon for your Gray Stamp Video which is simply incredible to watch. I linked it in the description. Thanks you for anyone else that helped provide photos of cards.
