I opened a pack. Convinced myself it was a heavy pack, but was wrong. Pulled a breeder rare and only received 10s on squirtle, sandshrew, and water energy. Financially stupid decision, but I enjoyed this special moment with my older brothers, so I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything. Hope to open a box someday with a fine bottle of wine and my brothers and closest friends.
I bought 6 packs a few years ago and none of them were heavy so I passed them along. It’s a shame I didn’t save them though because the value skyrocketed.
I did when I was a kid getting a box for my birthday. I had no idea they were first edition though until I started to add them to my collection and noticed the 1st edition stamp. I didn’t know that existed until then. My dad had no idea he purchased a first edition box either. He was just trying to make his son happy buying a whole box of pokemon cards from some store out of state. I think he was in a panic because he couldn’t find one locally and called some stores until someone had one available. It’s weird to think how the heck anyone purchased anything back then from a distance. He had no internet. lol just funny to imagine him calling local card and hobby stores looking through the phone book. A simpler time indeed.
It sure did. I had an antique store with my partner (and serious Pokémon collector) Joel Engle from Columbus Ohio. You can find him on Facebook. He watched the whole thing and even saw the PSA returns;)
