One of my sealed boxes had a tear in it so I opened it, probably picked it up for maybe $100 a year or two ago, every card is 10/10 mint but the two trainers. I was thankful to pick up a fresh beautiful one for $330 this past week, with the large price increase I donât see how these are not selling $600+. It has so much value if the cards grade well, which as we all know the charizard, blastoise, venusaur grade easy 9âs if not tens.
I picked up a sealed one for 120 within the last month, the starters are all 10s as well as Arcanine, the rest of the cards are 9s. Centering brought the Snorlax and Porygon to 9 levels.
Any reverse holo Nintendo E series card. Many are at a pop 0 for a 10.
Hard to grade cards that are old and no one was submitting these cards when they got released. The holo rares are also hard to grade but definitely much easier.
Donât get me wrong, itâs a bitch to grade for sure (pop 1), but most if not all English WOTC set cards have been thoroughly discussed in the past so it doesnât really fit the ârarely talked aboutâ qualifier for this thread IMHO
Can we mention the specifics that cause the cards to be harder to grade? I think it makes the thread better if people are aware of what to look for in the cards thatâs holding them back.
I think this might go for all checklane blister promos (atleast with the 2018 packaging) but Iâve purchased a bunch of these eggs and they are all horrible. Both print lines and whitening. The worst thing is over half of these cards Iâve purchased have a slight crease due to the way they are packaged. The pop report doesnât tell much since only three are graded (I mean who actually wants a random set of eggs graded) but Iâd imagine it would be tough to find a truly gem mint one. Some high volume sellers list freshly pulled cards as played because of this.
Metal Energy, super hard to grade due to the fact that it is the last card in the chikorita deck with 40 cards which has space to move around in the box and bump into the walls, the corners (back) get damaged easily as only the last card is exposed, the other 39 are pretty stick together so they move as one big object. in my case, it were only the right side corners as the card was exposed on that side.
Feraligatr, same problem as Metal Energy, in the totodile deck, the corners on the left (back) are pretty worn out.
Meganium, 2nd last card of the chikorita deck, not affected by the deck moving around in the box, everything perfect except centering which is also a big problem in this set.
@pokaholic thanks a lot for the pics pal, at least Iâm not the only one with those Intro Pack issues
Itâs really hard to make your money back by opening and grading these. The demand just isnât there, but consisering the grading difficulties and overall low pop, these cards could (should) be a bit more expensive.
