Is there any funny business with this auction block? Would this be the highest know Art Academy sale, or have there been private sales of some of the harder to get ones at this point? This is a wild price, and I saw both the Unikarps have like ~$150k bids.

PSA 10 University Magikarp sold in 2025 for $150k, so it’s not surprising to me that the PSA 10 and BGS 10 already 20% higher on this specific popular auction (Logan Paul + Goldin marketing).
As for this art academy, it’s the highest bid of a Gourgeist AA ever. Who knows if it will get paid for. Nothing shocks me anymore in 2026.

Many Art Academy sales went for +150k already, and some are actually auctioning through Pokecolor at even higher prices (Pikachu Art Academy cards).

Many of the Japanese Pikachu Art Academy in PSA-10 have already sold for 100-200k each, so that price isn’t too bad in comparison.

I was just rewatching the first episode of Ash’s journey in the original anime. Now I get why people are so fond of Pikachu. I forgot about all that. The writing of the character and his personality is great ! Pika pika !

When Ken Goldin quoted $12m for it, there was no doubt it would at least reach that for me. Imo, he wouldn’t state that for nothing.
