Getting cards graded

Hello,

Im just wondering how you decide whether it is worth getting cards graded?

I’ve looked online a certain cards but there are massively different prices everywhere for the same grading so unsure if it would be worth it. Any help appreciated.

The flowchart may seem reductive but I think it’s pretty accurate. To me it boils down to 2 main questions:

1.) Am I trying to make money off the grading?

  • If so, and I already own the card, do I think it’s at least a 9 and has a shot at a 10?
    • If so, is a 9 worth more than the cost of grading? (including shipping to/from PSA, materials) If so, add it to the pile.

2.) Is there sentimental value in the card for me? Do I want it graded for preservation, to display the information on the label, or just because I like the look of the card in a graded holder?

  • There is a subconsideration here, as some cards may be cheaper to buy already graded than to grade them yourself

Basically the same thing as the flowchart, you need to determine your personal motivation and the value of the card and you should be able to figure it out.

The flow chart is so we don’t all have to spend time writing out the same answer for the 300th person that asks. We should make it an E4 banner, frankly @fourthstartcg

I don’t see any cards there worth encasing in plastic

Honestly, just grade whichever cards have value to you. Other than the Zard and the Mespirit, I don’t think it’s worth your time and money grading bulk V’s and EX’s. Especially now that grading costs more and takes forever with PSA (assuming you choose to grade through them)

I would not grade any of those cards.
