I don’t collect past the 2000 era. Even still my personal collection is just topsun and Bandai. I don’t even collect all of those as I only have ‘95 topsun, and ‘97/‘98 Bandai. I don’t know anything of these particular cards.
How widespread and popular were these cards in India back in the day?
If these card were the real deal for thousands of Indian kids/fans, like WotC cards were to most of us, then I could see some kind of legitimacy in them.

A bootleg that gained unofficial legitimacy lol that would sure be something
Legitimacy in a sense, that this unofficial product was THE Pokemon TCG for thousands of kids.
If I were to talk to an Indian about collecting Pokemon Cards back in our childhood, then it wouldn’t matter, that my favourite Card was my Base Set 1st Edition Holo Machamp and his was the FUNSKOOL Whateveredition Holo Raichu. The “love” for Pokemon would make us both legitimate Pokemon fans and collectors.
On that note: I don’t know how popular Pokemon was in India. I don’t know if any legit Cards were available in India (and how affordable they were if they were available).

During the early days of the English Pokemon (like 2003) I shipped MANY orders to India. They were far from isolated from the hype, just behind. They had Internet and everything lol.

I just want to note that i don’t think anyone had any bad intentions regarding selling/buying/promoting these cards. I feel bad for all the people involved even the seller as well.
I think we should be careful about pointing fingers and blaming each other… let us all just learn from this instead!

For what it’s worth, I got no indication that anybody involved was disreputable. Everyone handled it properly.
Quuador could probably make one using my Electrode.
