I think Omastar and Kabutops are great fossil designs, but Aerodactyl is only making it this far due to nostalgia imo :).

Keep Omastar in - cephalopod supremacy!

Lol, oops, I totally thought Omastar was still in the running. Ok, well keep Kabutops in - arthropod supremacy  !

Damn was not expecting all the Aerodactyl hate right at the end. It’s one of the few Pokemon I can close my eyes and hear its in game cry. Kabutops is a fair winner though, as well as unsurprising.

Same! I used Aero a few times in the games and thought it was a great Pokemon. It was a FRLG main for me with access to fly, the Rock Head + Double Edge combo, and the ability to learn Rock Slide and Earthquake from move tutors. Hyper Beam was also a good move pre-special split and it got Crunch in later gens. I also used to do the in-game trade for it in Gen 2 and make it my flying type there too…not as good a move pool but still covered a bunch of bases and was fast.

Plus I always thought it looked cool so…:man_shrugging:

The only downside is that I don’t like it’s debut Fossil artwork but other cards have more than made up for that such as Aerodactyl ex from Sandstorm, the V SAR, and the Kanda-illustrated card from 151 to name just three.

Armaldo 4th is criminal. Should be WAY lower.

Armaldo must’ve banged a lot of wives, mothers, grandma’s and sister’s considering the constant hate it gets. Well I suppose he’s an outlaw after all…

Should’ve been #2 right behind Kabutops.

Awards will be given out shortly. Coffee and cake in the lunchroom afterwards.

Pterosaurs used to walk on 4 “legs” rather than their two rear legs. My guess is to make aerodactyl more accurately represent a pterosaur species.

Totally agree on that one.

Pterodactyl means “wing finger”, so I guess it made sense for them to keep the spirit of that with Aerodactyl having fingers.

Fun related fact I like to throw at people: the word “helicopter” means “spiral finger”, so “helico” = spiral and “pter” = finger.

We should all technically be pronouncing the word as “helico-pter” (with a silent ‘p’).

…Oh yeah, Pokémon.

I was surprised at Archeops going out so fast.

I like seeing reactions of people when I tell them that long piece of the wing after the little fingers is just a jumbo finger. Most of my family has grown numb to my dino/reptile facts.

Oh that is a good one! I’ve had great looks of confusion (or maybe disgust :joy:) from sharing random facts like that.
